Ten Year Anniversary Of Felliniesque
Chief Guns replied to Chief Guns's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Our first Shoulda Woulda Coulda comment of 2024. And if Crown would have executed on finals night in 2015, maybe they would have won, but they didn't. But BD executed. And they won fair and square. No excuses. And over the last nine years, we've even had some well respected Crown Honks on this forum say Crown fell flat on finals night and didnt rise to the occasion that they are capable of. But we all know where you stand when it comes to BD. So this is no surprise. -

Funny you say that. My daughter and son were born in 2002 and 2004. When they were growing up and we would talk about changes and differences between generations, social stuff, etc, I always found myself saying pre 9/11 and post 9/11. Now I found myself saying pre-pandemic, and post pandemic. -
With Cadets not performing this year, let's slide everyone up one spot, which means 5-10 to "start" the 2024 season would be...... 5. Mandarins 6. Phantom Regiment 7. Cavaliers 8. Colts 9. Troopers 10. Blue Stars If SCV is in the 5-10 range at finals this summer, who is out and why?

Yea unfortunately of all the areas in SoCal to get that nice 70 degree weather, DCI normally holds shows inland, where the temperatures can really heat up, Riverside, San Bernardino, Pasadena, and Open Class gets to perform in that ****hole Yucaipa CA, where the sun iis practically sitting on your shoulders. The only nice weather SoCal show is the Vista CA show, about eight miles from the ocean. But that show is off the schedule this year. -

Same here! Just watched 1930 and Cabaret Voltaire last night. Great shows. That BD drumline in 2009, holy smokes they were cooking! They definitely had something to prove after the nightmare in 08. -
SCV Decades Project: 2003, Pathways

Pathways, Scheherazade, and Babylon are getting major love in this thread as they should. But can we take a second to give some love to Ouroboros? My goodness what a show! And that ballad!!!!!!!! After 1988 SCV, Ouroboros might be my favorite SCV show of all time. -

Saw Babylon in San Bernardino. I knew they were winning it all at that moment. Right after the show, my mindset shifted to rooting on SCV for the gold and keeping the DCI Champion in California, and rooting on BD to keep their top two placement intact. -

Les Stentors came out to SoCal in 2022. I think the kids got to visit Disneyland, Six Flags, and other LA tourist attractions. Plus on the field, they are super talented! I know it cost them a pretty penny to travel out here, but I hope they can do it again in the near future. West Coast crowds showed them so much love. I am sure the kids had the time of their lives too. -

FWIW, I thought you guys were underscored Finals night in 2004. You guys should have been in the mid 97s at worst. Just a phenomenal show. -

BDs version of an ESPN 30 for 30. That would be awesome. I think ScoJo would be hilarious. -

SCV beat BD June 20, 2007 in Bakersfield CA. That would be the last SCV victory over BD until June 23rd, 2018 at Stanford. -

I don't remember it getting any love LMAO. Besides during that 2011 season, I was too busy protecting the western front for us BD fans ensuring we didn't get out-flanked by the ABBD crowd lol. So you may be correct. -

That is a fact. 2011 is gets a lot of love on this forum over the last several years. But during that 2011 season.......wow, the hatred was real. -

That's fair. But let me ask you this. Do you think BD fatigue at the very least plays a factor in the hatred they receive? Example.......... In an alternate universe, let's say BD has zero titles. Then going into 2010 they are in the running to win their first title ever, and they do the "Thru A Glass Darkly" show. With no titles or BD dominance to speak of, do you think the 2010 show would be better received? Or do you think it gets the same exact response? -
I was being snarky and more of a smart*** when I brought up Madison in 1999. Because the OP seems to be hung up on crowd response from 16 years ago. My apologies. Regarding your number/tile thing you posted, I hear you loud and clear. but here's the deal.......... We (In General) need to keep it real. We say we want chaos in the numbers/placements/scores. But when it happens, we lose our freaking minds and it's Armageddon in this forum. We have had some regionals over the last few seasons where numbers were all over the place, and we saw people flipping out and calling out judges for their favorite corps finishing let's say 3rd overall, but 8th in a particular caption/subcaption for an example. So basically, what we as fans are saying is............."Give us the scoring chaos with numbers and placements being topsy turvy................as long it doesn't happen to and/or affect the corps that I root for."

BD fatigue is probably top five biggest reasons for the hatred they receive. And it's not a BD thing, it's anyone who has figured out the championship formula to consistently stay on top. Society in general doesn't like dynasties...........unless it's the team/corps/player you root for lol. I remember after the 2006 season, and hearing some people groaning about the Cavies winning again and wanting to see a new winner. Now it was nowhere near BD level of hate, not even in the same realm, but some were talking. -
Spot on Jeff. Example.....1999. Finals in Madison Wisconsin. Scouts had a PHENOMENAL show that deserved and earned every applause it got. But you can tell they was feeding off homefield advantage, and they should have. They got loudest ovation of the night. So does that mean that they should have beaten BD/SCV? Or finished in front of the Cadets or Cavies? No they shouldn't have. And that's not me bashing the Scouts for all the Madison fans out there. Jesus Christ Superstar is one of my top ten favorite shows of all time.

Four Bronze Stars!!! Wow! Your Grandad was a certified BAD***!! Those are not easy to earn. Majority of people that got it, to include Silver Star recipients, normally don't talk about what they did to have earned it, and for a very good reason. Thank you for his service and sacrifice.

Congrats brother and welcome to the Grandpa club! My granddaughter turns three this Friday. Are you going to go with traditional Grandpa, or have the grandchildren call you something else. My granddaughter calls me Pop-Pop. Makes me feel less old LMAO.
