And just like that my drum corps career is finished LMAO. Fun while it lasted.........all of five minutes lol.

I told @DAYGO I am down to do this, but i dont have a lick of musical talent in my bones lol. So give me some cymbals i'll stand still and march in place, build the entire drill around me, and when you need me, give me a verbal cue and I'll crash those cymbals like a boss LMAO.

Mandarins made alot of changes to the show over the last four days. Excited to see what they got cooking. If you are gonna go down, go down swinging! LFG MANDARINS!

Currently we have a respected DCPer who post's daily here on the site, who's 16-year-old son is crushing it at PC right now in his first-year marching.

I always said if my son ever ended up at BD, I would leave DCP for good. No way I could handle it. Shout out and major props to the BD parents here on the site. They are way stronger and better than I will ever be.

Heck I'll go ahead and say it, there are probably a few WC corps that looked over their shoulder and said thank goodness BDB isn't coming to Indy this year.

They are definitely farther along at this point than last year regardless of score. One thing I am confident of, we won't see a drop in score two consecutive shows like we did last year after McKinney.

I think they would have to absolutely pull away from Bloo or vice versa. The four corps that cracked 99 in the past were minimum point in a half ahead of 2nd place. BDs Felliniesque scored 94.25 on this date back in 2014. So BAC is tracking well as of now. Quick research says the closest two corps got to 99 in the same season was in 2004. Cavies 98.700 and BD 98.525.

I gotta be fair to Crown. Not a battle yet. Mandarins have some work to do to catch up. They can make it interesting over the next week, but we will see what happens. Loving both shows. Can't wait to see Crown live in Indy!

I personally know someone who when they were college age, wanted to march drum corps, but because of finances, school, job, family, couldn't do a full WC tour. Open Class fit their needs. He went on to march a OC corps here in SoCal, and had the experience of a lifetime, and is now working to become a middle school music teacher. The 18 and over WC/OC split would have taken that drum corps experience and now music education career away from him.

Don't forget the phenom known as Brandon Olander, who bursted onto the scene throwing down with BDs drumline in YT videos at the age of 12. Then marched the Felliniesque year at 16-years-old. I think DCI did a feature on that.

With all the negativity we have on this site, particularly when scores/placements and recaps are announced each night, I am going to make sure this positive story doesn't go unnoticed or get lost in the sauce.............. The other night Mandarins brass beat Crowns brass for the first time in history. After the show, members of Crowns brass were over at the Mandarins buses congratulating and showing them love. Pure class move by Carolina Crown. And that speaks to your comment. Yes, these kids compete. Yes, they want to win and know their hard work is paying off via the results, but at the end of the day, they are all friends who support one another. I think when it comes to BD right now, some people are just taking the opportunity to get their pound of flesh that they have been waiting on for years, and in some cases decades. "The whole kick them while their down" when it comes to BD is in full effect, which I never understood. You can be happy for the success of whom you root for, without tearing down someone else. I don't care who it is. I said it in the Crown thread, but seeing the classy actions of the Crown members with the Mandarins............us adults can learn a lot from the kids on the field. Sadly, once scores/recaps come out for the next competition, all this will fall on deaf ears, and we will be right back to the post-show negativity. Count on it.

Looking at these massive jumps corps have made over the years, BD in the 70s, Bloo in the 80s, BAC in the late 90s, Crown in the 00s, and recently the Mandarins, it all speaks to one thing......................Leadership. It starts at the top.
