I wish there was an intelligent, mature, informed podcast that discussed the art form and the business of drum corps, one where the folks who actually know what's what would be willing to go on and discuss the activity and provide insight and clarity to listeners.

Something very different from DCAF, in other words.

Have you checked out Marching Rountable?

Your right as far as the activity is not close to proving anything but BOY has it changed and way more aware than the past. It has to start somewhere and needs to IMO. Is burning down everything without moving forward the answer , I guess that can be a heated debate.

Maybe not be an arson, but seriously consider walking away? (Speaking personally)

    Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo.................

Any chance the DCP admins will bring back the thread they removed of my pointing out Cadets were in regulatory violation of state law by failing to register as a charity?

Really? That’s where you want to go? The corpse is still warm.

Congrats brother and welcome to the Grandpa club!

My granddaughter turns three this Friday.

Are you going to go with traditional Grandpa, or have the grandchildren call you something else. My granddaughter calls me Pop-Pop. Makes me feel less old LMAO.

My granddaughters call me Pop-Pop, too!

Outside of finals this past summer, I have never attended a DCI show east of the Mississippi River. Was there any truth to crowds back east purposely not rooting for BD or corps from out west in general?

I can’t speak for everybody, but I never did. I always tried to make a connection with a show, but if I couldn’t I could respect the production value. Felliniesque bridged both for me. Like I said before, simply brilliant

Also, I wonder which is worse....sending an alternate home in early June with a far reduced fee or having them spin in the end zone all summer, never to get into the show all the while charging them full tour fees AND depriving them of marching elsewhere or working at home?

Boston now carries very few alternates on tour, instead calling them up from home should a hole opens.

There is alot of misinformation on the above link, including Boston supposedly charging $8000 tour fees.  They charge $6000, the same as Bluecoats this year and Cadets last year.

And also for the record, they did not bring 10 alternates on tour last summer....not even close.

They can’t … when the max a corps can march increased to 165, that eliminated room on the busses for alternates.

I only saw them twice that year, in Glendora and Riverside in late June when the show was still bare bones. Never in my life have i heard so many Oohs and Ahhs from a crowd. All of us in attendance, I don't think we knew at that moment we was witnessing greatness.

The fact that we hadn't even made it to Independence Day, and the season was over regarding who would win was just insane.

Felliniesque live in person was something to behold.

It was truly a magnificent show

As @Jeff Ream might say, SCV 89 is walking around with PR’s rings.

The Cavaliers just added Matt Stratton.  What an amazing move!

Great pick-up! I was really hoping Bloo would get him. Matt is a low brass guru … that should make Hook’em happy!

    Oh wow.

Crown: "We got Mackey writing original stuff specifically for our show themes"

    Bloo: "Hold my beer"

I'm loving this trend of partnerships and creative collaboration.

[holds breath for what BD might announce]

The big guns are definitely stepping things up!
