  1. Actually, this was our second bus adventure as we used them for the West Pittston show. I get it, vehicles break down...the concern was more for the members given the fact this was just a few days after the Phantom incident.
  2. Good Day All, As many of you know, the financial part of this activity can sometimes take a toll on an organization no matter how well you plan, especially when budgeted opportunities are lost at no fault of your own. The White Sabers from Dansville, NY are having to date one of the best seasons in their 89 year history, however, they can use some help right about now. So far they have lost 3 shows to cancellations, and, while traveling to Maryland for the 4th of July parades, the buses suffered a major mechanical failure which left the administration no choice but to send the corps back home rather than have them travel on buses with temporary repairs. The administration knew this was a huge financial loss in fees, but made the decision based solely on the safety of their members. Pete Amico and his crew take great pride in offering an affordable, but highly educational experience in this activity, so a loss like those I have listed are having a huge impact on them right now. I've known Pete and Leslie for the better part of 10 years now, and after spending the last 9 months or so working with the staff admin and members of the White Sabers, I can honestly say these are some of the best people in the activity! So please, if you have anything to spare, take a moment and check out this link, http://www.whitesabers.org/help-us-push-to-dca-finals/ ...no donation is too small. If you would rather send a donation to the corps or even just a note to say "hey", please do so at this address: White Sabers P.O. Box 352 Dansville, NY 14437 Pete and the entire White Saber organization, as do I, thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Bill
  3. If memory serves me correct, the White Sabers won the first "officially scored" show of the 2017 season on June 24th in West Pittston, PA. However, something tells me this group is going to work extremely hard (as are all the others) to try and notch a very good score this weekend as well, regardless of where it places them. Anyhow, enjoy your day and safe travels to all this coming weekend!
  4. The Reading Buccaneers will spend the weekend in the following manner: Friday night - Public Concert with our Alumni at a local venue Saturday and Sunday...fixin' stuff... Best of luck to everyone competing this weekend...HYDRATE and BE SAFE!!!!
  5. Chris Feist returns as Staff Coordinator. Chris is entering his sixteenth consecutive year with the Buccaneers and third full year as staff coordinator. He has been involved in the drum corps activity for more than thirty years and looks forward to once again playing a key role in the Reading Buccaneers’ organization. Bobby Jones returns as Program Coordinator and Visual Designer. Bobby begins his eleventh year with the Balance in Blue, having produced several years of award-winning visual programs for the Buccaneers as well as a stint on the corps’ color guard staff (2002). Bobby’s talent is much sought after from year to year, and the Buccaneers are excited for him to be returning to us once again in 2016. Rich Hammond returns to the Buccaneers taking on a new role as Program Consultant and Music Ensemble Supervisor. Rich previously worked with the corps as the Percussion Caption Head and Arranger until the end of the 2011 season when he left to pursue an opportunity with YEA. We are excited to have Rich back with the Buccaneer family and look forward to what he will bring to the 2016 program! Larry Markiewicz is pleased to return to the Buccaneers in the new position of Brass Caption Supervisor. In his new role, Larry will serve as mentor/liaison to the Brass Caption Head and will be responsible for the education and development of the overall brass product. Larry brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table that the entire organization will surely benefit from. Stay tuned for additional announcements as we continue to assemble another world class education team to lead the Balance in Blue. Please join us on Sunday, November 29, 2015, as we host our Membership Day at Twin Valley High School, Elverson, PA. Registration begins at 10:30 am. All persons interested in learning more about membership in the Reading Buccaneers and being part of the 2016 corps are invited to contact Business Manager Angelo Bufalino at membership@readingbuccaneers.org, or, visit us on Facebook or on www.readingbuccaneers.org for more information
