  1. Ok, Troop. Neither BK nor Xmen laid down without a fight. You have the entirety of the drum corps community rooting for you. Lay it down without leaving any doubts!
  2. Nice performance, Crossmen! I will absolutely understand if it makes it in tonight, and it is up to Troop & Colts to lay down fantastic performances. I do feel like the run was overall less clean & focused than Prelims, but there were parts that really shone. The only thing I will argue is that while the brass sounds great, I don't want anyone telling me that that brass performance was/is 8th place today. Great full ensemble, but way too much dirt.
  3. I'd say that was about the best run BK could have given. If any performance get them back in the top 12, it will be this one. Focused, clear, and performed with as much intensity and passion as that design could offer. Even if they don't make it across the finish line, BK should hold their heads high with that tight, clean, & energetic last run!!
  4. You know, I know there's not a lot of people in the Madison camp thrilled with this show, but the corps looks and sounds more confident and clear than I've seen since...Last Man Standing? It seems like they've got a tremendous base of consistency in execution in all captions, and the corps performs so confidently and smoothly because of that. I hope they keep this teaching & design staff in place and allow them to grow a bit to see what can be achieved. This really does seem like a solid framework for future years, and felt more "Madison Scouts" than the last few seasons.
  5. Indeed they did, and deservedly so, and as far as I know - first time breaking 80 in the corps' short history! And handily so! If they hang onto 17th, as I think they should, this will be their highest placement by FAR, exceeding Hell On Wheels' 21st in Semis and 78.175 in 2018.
  6. Excellent season, Music City! What a show and what a mature, well-performing corps. Just lovely all around.
  7. Ok, I'm going to wax poetic about Pacific Crest for a minute. I think it's safe to call them "Most Improved" from beginning to end of the 2022 season. They came out at Corps at the Crest in early July and think most of us were just...shocked?...by the number of holes marched, the smaller corps size in general, the seemingly disparate design, and they capped it off the evening by landing a final number in the high 50s, I think. Oof. I mentioned this yesterday after their Prelims performance, but I really do still see shades of the 2019 PC corps in there today & yesterday. They REALLY pulled it together at the end of the season. Not just execution - but design and member buy-in were all clearly achieved by the season's end. I hope they retain a good amount of members; yes, this was probably a slog of a season for the unit, but if the staff & members can pull not just the corps but the design over the finish line like this (thriving and not limping), that speaks tomes to the skill sets at the root of what they're doing over in Diamond Bar. I am seriously impressed with how everyone on the field and behind the scenes cleaned and grew this season. Yea, maybe not a banner finish in the numbers and placements, but I hope everyone involved with the corps is exceptionally proud of where they landed the 2022 season. It takes real grit and focus to pull off such exceptional growth.
  8. It's crazy that this will probably only tie their highest Semis placement (22nd in 2019), when I really feel like they have taken a massive step forward in design, and execution levels have followed suit. They were sufficiently lauded at OC Prelims & Finals, though, and I hope the kids feel great about the season - these guys are building something big for the future. Love love love everything I'm seeing from Gold. Congrats on a banner season!
  9. Nice job, BDB! A strong finish, and a strong performance. Not the most interesting show they've ever fielded, but it was well-executed and well-performed. Love the consistency in execution from all members. I'd imagine they stay handily ahead of Spartans, although I much preferred Spartans' show.
  10. EXCELLENT finish, Spartans!!!! I really want them to keep up this direction from 2019 onward. This was a terrific show that laid a bit low all season. What a fresh design from them. though, and no slouches at all in terms of execution. 23rd, if they stay there, sounds like way too low of a placement for this design, and I hope they aren't too discouraged - I love what they put on the field this season!
  11. I absolutely cannot believe how far Guardians have grown since 2019. They took the maturity of their apple show and put it over the chaotic, off-the-wall shows that landed them on the map in the first place. I'm in love!!!! I hope that corps is beyond proud of making Semis for the first time and landing top 5 at OC Prelims & Finals. They've more than earned it!! I think Guardians will end up as one of the best Cinderella stories of 2022. What a great year for them, and so well-deserved!
  12. What in the hell... I didn't think it was too bad at first glance, but it just kept going and going with breaks and additions!
  13. Jesus Christ I NEED Flo to understand that they can't show commercials during the live score announcements tomorrow. What an absolutely inept company. Their entire business model focuses on capturing competitive scholastic sports - wouldn't one imagine the scoring is part of what needs to be captured, regardless of the activity? Ugh.
  14. It is jaw-dropping what improvement a competent show design can make for a corps. I think every drum corps fan is happy to see Phantom vivacious, energetic, musical, and passionate - and a brass line that would make anyone swoon!!
  15. Phantom, your brass sound like powerful, liquid gold. Oh how I have missed that line having something of quality to sink its collective teeth into!
  16. Excellent, excellent run, Crossmen!!!! I am impressed - I think BK & Xmen both managed to breathe life into otherwise lackluster shows. Neither one is still anywhere close to their best offering, but both have grown substantially this last week. Xmen are still messier than I would like. I did not expect that intensity, though. Guard was on fire. Hornline sounded great. Colts seemed to my eyes & ears the least driven & intense, but by far the cleanest of the grouping of 4. I would also argue the most depth and complexity in their show as well, all of which they execute well. Troopers of course laid down the intense run, and have cleaned beautifully. The show is by far the sleekest and best-designed of the four - but maybe the shallowest as well? I don't get the depth in the front ensemble and guard books that the other three have in layers. BK did deliver way more than I thought they would. I still think they have the weakest design and GE of the 4. It's anyone's ball game!!
  17. Ok, BK really found some cleaning juice after they seemed to have been stalling mid-season. They made a STRONG statement today and don't want to lose that Finalist spot. But, so did Troop. BK still had more timing blips, phasing, and feet issues than I would care for....juxtaposed with really, REALLY solid moments. I still do not care for the design or pacing, especially the somewhat lackluster ending. It's not untouchable, but they are putting up quite a fight! I love to see it.
  18. That legit had me up on my feet in the living room like a goddam lunatic. It's not the cleanest, but I would not AT ALL want to be any of the three corps sitting barely above them at the moment. They define momentum.
