  1. When I auditioned in 2000 it was the same way. No audition piece - just show up. As long as you exhibit a base level of accepted talent and IMPROVE over the course of the winter camp season you were golden. I agree with Chuck entirely.
  2. I may be the minority here, but I've always preferred DVDs/live feeds to be mostly from the perspective of the judges/audience. Give me the high cam over any of those artsy angles any day. Besides, isn't that how shows are designed? Directed at a target audience? The occasional close-up or feature is fine but I want to see the big picture ALL the time. Dunno.
  3. I can't comment on his judging, but he was notorious for giving out nipple tweaks in the showers prior to a show. ....... Carry on.
  4. Never has a post on a forum given me goosebumps, till now.
  5. Being an alumni of the corps, I was searching through my old paraphernalia over my parents house and stumbled upon an old DVD of an up-close and personal run-through from the corps 10 years ago filmed late in the season. Sure it's dirty, but it characterizes what the corps used to have, and what it needs to regain. With the new staff in place (Naffier and Devlin from this show alone), I'm confident they'll get it back. I couldn't help myself but rip it and post it. Enjoy. :) (link removed; DCP media policy) A quick search on YouTube will yield said video.
  6. I recommend everyone take a listen and see what Chuck and Lee are capable of in their arranging. Crossmen 2000-2004 were the last few great years of the corps, and I have no doubt that they will be turning things around in the very near future. Having both Chuck AND Lee, on top of Devlin, and they're in great hands. Also, from what I understand, Mark Thurston will be a part of the corps in a consulting role.
  7. Fantastic news. Chuck will bring a new dimension to the corps that they haven't seen in 6 years. Outstanding. :)
  8. What I would give to see Chuck in front of the hornline again, what with all of his quirky facial expressions. That man knew how to get a line to play. Not just play, but PLAY.
  9. Crossmen 2000, there was a rotating block in Birdland that got smaller and smaller. That was "The Toilet Bowl." There was a part in the drum break in Crossmen 2001 called "The Nasty." Draw your own conclusions. In 2002 and 2003, the Crossmen's signature folding diagonals from the back corner of the field was called "The Special D", after Darryl Pemberton - the drill writer.
  10. Not denying the fact it sounds good, but it's the same thing every year. Arrange something new, will ya? :)
  11. Also, get rid of the pre-show gimmicks. That's 15 pages of drill that could be cleaned in the show where it counts.
  12. I completely agree with the above, especially about the arrangements. Heat of the Day was just awfully scored, IMO.
  13. I see what you're saying, but since moving to Texas, there has been a significant drop-off in performance excellence and execution, with no obvious success at rebounding. They've been doing this for 4 years now, which leads one to believe the culture change has been for the worse. I completely agree with the regime change though. It's time someone steps up and gets it done the way it used to be. Dean Musson? Jeff Bridges? Bueller? Bueller?
