  1. Just out of curiosity, why do you bring up the Viking fan thing? The show is still at the University of Minnesota, not US Bank Stadium
  2. From a friend who's auditioning: just encore tunes this weekend. Show and tell for the brass included Band of Brothers and El Camino. Also, the design team still doesn't have a show yet apparently though I remember a post after the first meeting there was a post about how they had a show. Is my memory wrong?
  3. I was referring to these costumes. I suppose I called them a uniform because they were worn uniformly throughout the group.
  4. With the new wave of uniform type in drum corps that we're seeing from Bluecoats, reportedly Cadets, and possibly Boston and I'm sure others, is it only a matter of time before it hits the high school circuit?
  5. I'm a little late to the minimalism discussion, but correct me if I'm wrong. Was the Academy show this past summer not only very minimalistic, but also very effective?
  6. Then there's always the possibility that it was deleted because it has credibility and they don't want info being leaked. Not saying that's what it is. Just a possibility.
  7. Quick question. Who's been/is writing the drill? Edit: saw Vanderkolff listed as drill design. Didn't know for sure if this is the same as drill writing.
  8. I was thinking today... If Boston has a high quality program this year, just how good and exciting can they be? To be perfectly honest they are attracting the most hype from me simply because I have absolutely no idea how well/poorly they'll do and what direction they'll go creatively. I'm very excited. And does anyone have any idea or inkling or clue when they'll announce?
  9. Honestly didn't see it when listening to the song but after hearing the band arrangement, I'm in love
  10. Fair enough. Been moved, thread can be locked if necessary
  11. Asked a similar question on the Boston thread but I figured it applied to all corps. So what do you guys think are the floors and ceilings, competitively, for each corps? PURELY OPINION BASED (I'll keep mine to last year's Top 12 in that order) Boston: 9-5 -With the new staff and plenty new talent Boston is quickly becoming a destination. Honestly think they'll win a title within 5 years. Academy: 12-9 -They're on the up and up. I believe in the design team to come through again and the instructional staff to work vigorously with their biggest audition turnout ever by far to find what I think will be their best talent even by far. Crossmen: 14-11 -Honestly not a fan. But they will not drop too much. Phantom Regiment: 12-9 -Opposite of Academy. I think they're on a downhill design wise and talent wise. Blue Stars: 10-7 -The percussion losses will probably hurt but I think the brass staff changes are an upgrade and I love their shows. We'll see how their season plays out. Blue Knights: 9-5 -Hit or miss. That One Second and Because were big hits and Great Event was a big miss (for the most part. Still loved lots of that show) Cadets: 8-7 -They're going down the drain I think. But they continue to bring in lots of talent so they won't fall too much, I think. Cavaliers: 6-4 -Loved last year. Think they'll stay in the same general area especially retaining that strong design team. Santa Clara Vanguard: 6-2 -Loved last year and they're probably headed up. Carolina Crown: 5-1 -Think we could see another 2014 type of drop the way they did after a very strong 2013. Especially with the guard and visual losses. (I use "losses" loosely since we don't know for sure whether they'll be downgrades or upgrades) Blue Devils: 3-1 -What will they come up with next? Will they dial it back a bit or go even farther into the abyss of creativity? Bluecoats: 3-1 -They're my pick to win next season. Design is just too strong with the "cool" factor. Them and Blue Devils are THE destinations imo.

  13. Just out of curiosity what do you guys think is the floor and ceiling for Boston this season, competitively speaking? In my personal opinion I think they'll end up somewhere between 9 and 5. Curious to hear what y'all think.
  14. Academy making some brass staff additions including Chad Pence and Pat Sheridan while retaining caption head Michael Larkin. http://www.arizonaacademy.org/2017-brass-staff
  15. In the light of the Marching Roundtable episode with the Academy design team and the very emotional show/season they were able to put together this past summer... What are the most emotional seasons for a corps that come to mind? --Taking away bias of having connection to a corps, just thinking as a spectator--
  16. Are you seriously suggesting Boston doesn't make the cut?
  17. Is someone able to give a detailed post in this thread giving the highlights and most important parts for those that can't watch it?
  18. This thread is the first time I've seen Madison 1995 put in the same boat as those other shows.
  19. You don't think 1988 is the most popular Madison show? And I only thought 95 was underrated because I hadn't heard anything about it until a couple weeks ago (after loving the activity for three years). That's my bad.
  20. What are some shows that aren't heralded as "great, memorable shows" that you guys love? My personal choice is Madison 95.
  21. I've always wondered about something like that to be perfectly honest
  22. I've seen a few shows, mostly Broken Arrow and Hebron, but I've never really followed along as the season progresses
  23. It seeeems like there's a big dead space in this time of year. Granted it's very much so the off-season, and the off-season was very exciting for the first little bit with the staff shufflings around. But some organizations similar to DCI, such as NBA or NFL (yes I know those examples are on a much higher scale), have found ways to keep their fans engaged all throughout the offseason. So my question(s) is (are), is there a way to keep the engagement up during this dead time in between the end of the season and preseason activities/announcements? If there is a way, is this even a problem that needs fixing?
