  1. Credible governance is probably the single best thing a corps can do to increase revenue. With that in place, you can raise a meaningful endowment and have a not insignificant portion of your operating expenses covered each year. Running a corps is quite labor intensive. Credibly running multiple side hustles seems like too great a strain on already limited resources. My corps (Pioneer) is a hot mess and I wouldn’t waste a single dollar on the current ‘leadership.’ Fix the governance and I wouldn’t be the only alumni willing to make a meaningful contribution.
  2. Does anyone have any information on the July 11th 'special performance' in Casper? I'm considering a car camping trip to WY and thought it would be neat to see the Troopers in their hometown. The 2019 show doesn't have much appeal for me but if there's a chance to see a more traditional expression of the corps, I would definitely plan around it. Thanks!
  3. Thanks for sharing that video. Looks like they're having a blast. Their show was the first one that had me spontaneously clapping. Big, brassy, a little dirty but fun!
  4. I will be at Prelims next week and while the prospect of watching 12 hours of drum corps is enticing, I'll probably need to break up the day a bit. I'm guessing there might be few others here in the same boat. With that in mind, I was hoping to tap the forum's collective knowledge as to which shows might appeal to different types of fans. I'll start with myself. I like melody, screaming brass solos and 'full bore' percussion features. I think DCI peaked in '88 and consider Scouts show from that year to be the best of the best. The only show I was able to catch this year was the one in Riverside. Scouts were my clear favorite and BD's show was also enjoyable. BK by comparison was too contemporary for my tastes. Please let me if you have suggestions on which other corps I may like or dislike. To make this thread useful to others, please also suggest shows for folks with different tastes (e.g. 'if you like amplification, be sure to catch so and so' or 'fans of guard work will really enjoy such and such'). Thanks!
