While I certainly hope they do, I don't think they are going to fall out of the medal hunt on the 9th day of tour. If memory serves, they stayed around 6th-7h in 2010 all the way to San Antonio, then the show "clicked", they hit another gear, and rode it all the way to a silver medal in Indy. Again...I hope they blow a number up tonight! But I'm not ready to panic if they don't. BTW...does anyone know if tonight's panel is a full panel?

From chats with both a MM and a staffer, your first comment is spot on. The description was that the hornline was "loose" and not in a good way. Meanwhile guard and percussion both ended up in the top slot. We're a week into the season. Not sure it's time to over-react to a less than stellar night. Either way, with a kid in the corps, I'm all in until August no matter what they score! Go Cavies!

Have you ever wondered..."When was the last time Corps A beat Corps B head to head?" I wonder if there is a user interface somewhere that lays over all the historical score data that produces the results to a hypothetical like that. What started this? Me musing...I wonder when the last time the Cavaliers beat Carolina Crown? Hoping to see that happen tonight in Muncie!

Evansville, IN is right across the river from my Dad's hometown...Owensboro, KY. My son in marching there tonight with The Cavaliers. My Dad had no musical gifts whatsoever, but he LOVED high school band when we all came through, and DCI when my older brother was marching Spirit of Atlanta in their hay-day. I'd like to think he's pulled up a chair in the clouds, and is watching Davis Henry do his thing tonight. And if any of my highschool bandmates remember, there would be a very loud "WOOOOOOOO GET 'EM" going on in heaven tonight. Miss you Dad...you'd be so very proud of your grandson. And as Hook'em says....GOOOOOO CAVIESSSSS!

If you look back at 2017’s first three shows, one might have drawn some of these same conclusions. Until they’re all head to head this is fun and games in my opinion.

It was a 10-row up bootleg, so it was hard to tell how they looked. But they sounded amazing.

I'd put Mandarins in Tier 3, and since I'm an unapologetic homer...the Cavaliers in Tier 1. :-)

After being in Detroit on Thursday, I wouldn't count any of the top 3 there ( Coats, Crown, Cavies) as out of the mix with the California Corps until we see them all head to head. And while I'm thrilled that Cadets have fought through the adversity, something serious will have to happen to that show for them to hang anywhere near Boston or Blue Knights...and they might have Mandarins overtake them. Still interested to see what Spirit of Atlanta does on their first night out...I've heard some pretty good things. Who knows?

i was there live...not sure that delay was electronic. After the delay, a BAC staffer came crawling out from underneath that big round prop with a quad rack...and about 10 seconds later the show started.

My son has been whistling it since February...and in spite of that, I still loved hearing it last night!

The difference to the show last night and the premiere show in Indy last year was night and day for all the reasons you cite. The hornline came out blowing. Was it dirtier than last year's opening? Yes it was...was it better than last years? Yes it was. This show has major upside to it!

Thanks! Like a kid at Christmas. The kid will be in front of a mic a couple times tonight, so I also have a case of the parental butterflies.
