Those lyrics were composed by a current Marching Member of the Cavaliers. And yes...I think it will be a great addition to their tradition in year 70. I'm very excited for these young men and their staff/volunteers this summer. Going in with NO expectation of placement versus other corps, but with a genuine excitement for them moving up their game regardless of what is going on elsewhere. Can't wait for Ford Field in 15 days! On a sidenote, I won a "Hymn Memorization" contest in my 6th grade youth choir just because I was a little competitive SOB back then...but I love hearing DCI brass lines play hymnody. There was never a better match made. Hymns are straight SATB...and so are Drum Corps.

I’m a hornline parent. I watched their process last year. I’m obviously watching it this year. I have no idea if they will medal because I have no idea of the rate other Corps are improving over last year. But what I do know is the Cavaliers hornline has markedly improved since 2017. I also agree with your assessment of Kevin’s leadership. I personally know one kid that would run through a brick wall for him. Sometimes the combination of “young” and “hyper talented” is a good thing when relating to MM’s that are 17-21. Couldn’t be more excited for the Cavs season, and though I’m sure no one will believe this, I’m not sure I care where they place. My kid is getting the hands on education of a lifetime.

I'm a lifer DCI fan and a lifer Georgia Tech football fan. I attended the Georgia Tech- Tennessee game in Mercedes Benz last fall, and the sound was honestly horrible. The bands sounded like they were in tin cans. Keep in mind this was JUST after the stadium opened and they may be working things out. A few weeks later Garth Brooks did a concert there and there were concert-goers demanding refunds over how bad the sound/acoustics were. We can only hope that someone is working on this. For instance...on show day...opening up the roof if there's no weather issues, and hanging a huge dampening curtain like they do in Lucas Oil. With all of that said...my wife and I have tickets for the Atlanta show. But I'm VERY concerned about the sound after having been in that arena.

Don't want to be a hype-monger, but the more I hear from early camp the more I ( as a labelled PopCornEater) gets excited about Cavaliers 2018. That is parent hype. Parent hype can often be inaccurate...but hey...wanted to share it anyway. Hype don't mean a thing on 6/21. And won't mean a thing a day after. But I'm very happy that my kid is marching in this organization.

Thanks to all who offered support! I just heard his last workout before move ins tomorrow in Detroit. He’s well on his way to full recovery. And he’s in play for some featured musician roles in this year’s show. Of course that’s still up to the staff, but his Mom and I are poised for the “biggest” season of his Drum Corps experience!

We’re down to one corner of his mouth! It’s the one that had the most problematic tooth. He has a “gum flap” in that corner that is perplexing him, but no pain. Buzzed a mouthpiece for a few minutes today, including triple tongued exercises. Says it “feels weird” but no pain and no blood. Move ins are Friday. Just love that the staff has been so awesome. He’s on his way back! Might actually hear a note out of a horn tomorrow!

I'd like to think running into day 8 post surgery that you're a thousand percent right. He had one tooth laid sideways right down on the jawbone that was rather "non routine" in its extraction. That's what we're taking extra precautions over. The top socket are the other lower socket are almost completely healed. I'm hopeful that this will all be an afterthought when he gets on the plane for move ins. This kid has worked REALLY hard from November til now for this show. I'm just being the over concerned Dad that's going to ride herd over him to make sure he doesn't do something "stupid".

Hello all, My son is starting his second year with the Cavaliers in 8 days! He had his wisdom teeth out back on May 3rd, and we really thought a week later he'd be back in the groove. At his follow-up appointment today, they said he is "still healing" and shouldn't play for at least another week, which is advice he will be forced to follow ( by me). But it raised my curiosity...how many of you hardcore drum corps people had to deal with it when you marched? And what was your recovery like? As we all know, Spring Training are long days of playing and physical exertion. Just curious if any of you with real world experience could share any insight.

Everything I saw ( mostly heard) validates that...but it's April. I just can't let myself get hyped in April. That said, I WILL be sitting in a seat at Ford Field in Detroit on 6/21. I hope ( and hope isn't a strategy, but I'm a popcorn eater) that they make a statement right from the get. We'll see.

Full disclosure. My kid marches in the Cavaliers and I bleed green. With that noted, I wanted to recognize just how much I enjoyed the 2017 BAC Show “Wicked Games”. I literally just finished watching it (again), and I thought this was one of if not the most entertaining shows in Finals last year. True to my “PopcornEater” moniker, I really don’t understand all the scoring. And yes I do know good technical brass lines when I hear them. Boston’s brass sounded great in this show. But the show design, the vocals (gasp!), the voice overs, the props, and the theme overall made this a top flight entertainment experience overall! Best of luck to BAC in 2018! Hope my Cavaliers bring their A game! I’ll now return to being a Cavaliers “homer” :-)
