  1. Live on the 50, I had Boston over Crown. I’m surprised that there wasn’t more separation between Crown/Boston and Bloo. Happy for Troop. They’ll be moving up. Cavaliers will catch Cadets. Mandarins TBD. interesting to see where Bluestars fits into this mix. Obviously didn’t get a live read tonight so will hold predictions on that. And glad Spirit is back on the field competing! overall a helluva live OUTDOOR drum corps show!
  2. Been watching live drum corps since 1978. Best brass line ever on the field right now.
  3. The difference in Devils brass right behind Bloo is stark out of the gate. STARK. I’ve never been able to tell on Flo.., but jeez. A whole different level. Nobody’s beating Devils.
  4. So far from crowd reaction in building: Boston Crown Bloo First read of live Devils coming up. What a show!
  5. Wow… Bloo brass! Lighting up the building… trombone feature is awesome!
  6. Bloos narraration needs to change… it’s putting people to sleep here live.
  7. Just home from Cavaliers rehearsal site. I always went to Atlanta rehearsal when my son marched from 2017 to 2021. Honestly, I’ve come to expect the corps to look a little tired at Atlanta rehearsal. That has been my experience in the past. That is not what I saw today . I saw a Drum Corps in high spirits and instructional staff still managing every detail of getting better. it was hotter than hell and no one seem fazed by it. Saw no holes to recent sickness outbreak. Phantom and Cadets had best watch their six, as while maybe not tonight but soon, “objects in the mirror are closer than they appear”. We’ll see…😎
  8. I wouldn’t mind seeing a “standstill competition”. All music, only mics on pit…do it on Thursday in Indy. Then do a prelims on Friday and Finals on Saturday for full show. Just to better appreciate the music being created.
  9. They have an excellent medical team. Didn’t really post to debate that. Posted because fans here might want to know. Thanks.
  10. Not saying you’re incorrect. I know 2015 was a huge year for this. My son was a DM in 2019. I toured 10 days with them and followed that season very closely. I just don’t remember this. His rookie year, 2017, there were 8-10 that got sick in Hattiesburg, MS after San Antonio and before Atlanta. Repeating to state I’m not intending to be confrontational … are you sure it was 2019?
  11. Oh no! I’m having a 2015 bad flashback and a 2017 good memory at the same time. 2015- lost 40 plus marchers overnight between Nashville and Atlanta and didn’t field in Southeast regional. Was running 5-6 and ended up 9th. 2017- was on tour as volunteer between San Antonio and Atlanta. Morning after Mesquite, a n Hattiesburg, MS 8-10 members stomach sick. Immediately quarantined. Busses scrubbed top to bottom. Corps sent to do all dirty laundry. Etc. Marched 9 holes in Hattiesburg. But all back by Atlanta and went on the highest finish since 2010 ( 4th) Hoping beyond hope for the “latter”.
  12. You won’t. Don’t try. Nothing wrong with over the top unbridled JOY for your kid.
  13. There’s simply nothing like it. I sat in LOS on opening day 2017 and bawled like a little girl when my son stepped off in “Men Are From Mars”. And did the same when he pulled his baton down on the last note of “Live From The Rose” in 2021. And more shows I’d like to admit in between.
  14. Just rewatched Scouts 75 and Spirit 80. What a record scratch after tonight. Before I get labeled a dinosaur (maybe I am)… I don’t pine for G bugles I don’t care what MM’s wear i don’t hate pits Even amplification has good purposes in the activity. But I am a tad nostalgic for the days when music was a 45 point caption. Above all other captions. And music ruled the roost. I’m a little saddened that DRUM and BUGLE corps has evolved into a hyper-amplified visually driven circus. That has nothing to do with number of valves, bore of the bugle, uniforms, etc. Not expecting an answer to the rhetorical “how did we get here”? Just saddened that it’s clear we’ll never see it again.
  15. Good thing they still judge the whole corps. Yeah … that’s a repeat from last night. But if the same comments are going to be made over and over about “Percussion carrying the corps” I guess I can keep repeating this. And this: The only staffing that remained after last season was Percussion. New brass members. New brass staff. Go figure. And still only a point and a half out of the melee of 5-7 with 3 weeks left.
