  1. And, as someone who doesn't hate BD for no reason, that's a night for me.
  2. Will the Finals retreat be streamed on Youtube, again? Anyone know?
  3. Let me clarify. The Bluecoats are definitely not the most guilty example - they are simply the most high-profile example. But, the basis of it is that whereas many shows pick a topic to explore - an idea - the Bluecoats do exactly what you said. Pick loud music and perform the hell out of it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying that - that is your preference. However, it does not coincide with my preference - not saying that it matters or that they should change it - just that I dislike it and therefore will complain about it, yeah?
  4. Bluecoats - NAILED - Music to get the watcher hooked - Designing a show that sticks out MEH - Maybe a show with a little more artistic substance ( Jesus, I'm such a snob ) - Maybe it was just me, or maybe the Atlanta performance was a 'meh' performance to y'all (we all have those) but I was honestly really underwhelmed. Blue Devils - NAILED - Visual still superb. Masters of execution. - Always love the show concept MEH - Okay, as much as I love the show concept, maybe pick a show where the topic doesn't require an IQ in excess of 115 to grasp (Yes, that's pretty average, and yes, that's where I'm pegging it) - This year, the ending half of the show never gave me that "ahhh" moment. It felt like all of those moments were reserved for the first half. Crown - NAILED - BRASS BRASS BRASS BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASS - Really getting good at this storytelling style - I love it! MEH - You're catching up in percussion. Look to dominate. - Mix the formula up a bit. It's like the last 3 years have been the exact same show but with different characters. SCV - NAILED - Execution was stellar across the charts. What I'd expect from the non-blue Cali Corps. - p e r ccuuuss i i i i i ooonnnnn MEH - The show theme was very generic, imo. - That's really the only thing I can really harp on. note: my opinions, feel free to disagree, but if you whine I won't read
  5. My only complaint this year is likely some of the shows are drifting into a weird kind of esoteric theme, something so strange that it almost means nothing. For instance, the Bluecoats. The last Bluecoats show I actually enjoyed was 2013 - now they're doing these show concepts that don't really mean anything (to me at least, as this is a personal opinion). 2014 was triangles. 2015 was circles. 2016 was disco pants and skateboard ramps. However, don't get me wrong. They performed the hell out of all three of those shows and I've always of the "it doesn't matter, they executed better" crowd, but since this thread is for general complaints, that's it. Also, the Bluecoats aren't the only corps guilty of this, they're just easily the most high-profile candidate. EDIT: Fixed a typo.
