I guess it's the difference in aesthetics

I won't probably watch this show but I have a great respect for their activity...SAFETY is an issue in their activity as it is in DCI..They've eliminated moves deemed too risky for the performers because of injuries..DCI, with the prop revolution/evolution would do well to also consider "how much is too much?'...IMHO..peace

Yes we did

KUSH HERE!!!!

I respect your opinions..It's the TONE I find problematic...inclusiveness implies that even veterans of the activity and their feelings should be taken seriously...whether we win or lose the debate we reserve the right to be RESPECTED ... The snark you refer to rises as you personalize the issue...JUST THE FACTS !..no need to suggest that those who FEEL disappointed , are behind the curve..peace

Does DCA include all instruments? I need alternatives to DCI next year ...#swan song..peace

hard to distinguish the Boo from the Blooo normally given..have to find another dissenting cry for those so inclined ☺️

Excuse me for coming late to this topic..I just wanted to know whether DCI voted yea or nay on the question concerning woodwinds..and if yea, when does implementation begin..2020? 2021?..

Sad, but probably true..peace

If, as many on here suggest, that woodwinds are inevitable, would it be out of bounds to ask the FANS at finals if they concur with this decision? I ask this because if the FANS say they want ww's, even though I object, I will humbly submit to the will of the people...not necessarily the designers ...It will no longer be drum corps as I know it, but then again, I'm just a former marcher who didn't know what drum corps was until that brass sound kicked my ### and made me want to do that..happy new year...peace
-
What I fail to understand, is the NEED for woodwind instruments when we have electronics that can reproduce just about any sound(instrument) ..So designers NEED to alter the current aesthetic for bandos who want to march drum corps?..As have many mm's you learn to be a multi instrumentalist to FIT in if drum corps means that much to you..Seems like the sacrifice part is eliminated as drum corps says: " come on in woodwinds, we've changed to meet YOUR needs"..IMHO..peace

As a parent and grandparent I fully understand your post..sometimes it's not about winning, but rather, being put in a winning situation..I hope your son is put in that situation in 2020...As long as the corps serves his best interests, so be it..Good luck!..peace -
Bravo!!

If the writing is on the wall, and drum corps as we know it is inevitably retired to DVD and VHS memories, then so be it!! Ever since we moved from a neighborhood activity to an international one, the changes suggest that at some point ANYTHING goes as long as it meets with the approval of the mm"s and their supporters..Sadly, those of us from BITD , who thought that we were special because of our uniqueness, will just have to accept that we had a "good run" and that maybe it's over..If DCI goes woodwind, it must be because the appeal to bandos is greater than the reminiscing of neighborhood guys like me..I accept this...don't like it but I accept it..Peace

WE ARE the historical thread..lol..peace
