  1. 1812 fits with a V for Vendetta theme. Don't know how well a show themed after a movie/comic about an out of control government taking away rights supposedly over a virus would sit right now though.
  2. Let's start with. The 1987 Garfield Cadets Percussion 2013 Carolina Crown Brass 2014 Blue Devils Colorguard
  3. 4 years high school. 4 years college. 8 years total marching experience. Basically just a fan. No corps experience. I spent 2 years in a local parade marching band. I always knew about the Cavaliers (but never seriously looked into them because I am not properly equipped) and always knew the Cadets as the top of the crop musically (this was the early 00s) but far out of my reach. A kid at my school marched lake Erie Regiment one summer so had some exposure to that. I marched in college with a Cadets Alum but became really good friends with a Bluecoats Alum and went to my first live show in 05. It was Pittsburgh and the Bluecoats weren't there...I fell in love with BK (really my wheelhouse at the time talent wise and music that I loved) but saw they were from Denver and shrugged it off. Had to pay off college loans anyway. After the 06 season we marched with a Cavalier that marched the machine show so we watched it a lot. Great show. Made me realize that dci would not have been out of my reach but I was already almost too old and needed to get ready for grad school. Years later I met my husband- he marched with the Warren Junior military band and the Bluecoats. He took me to 2012 DCI finals for my birthday and I have been obsessed ever since.
  4. Interview with keytaurist Really awesome stuff! This kid is so talented!
  5. Those who have been to a live show in the past few weeks. Which corps is the LOUDEST? I have only watched on Flo but SCV has caught me off guard several times- with one brass hit knocking something off my kitchen counter.
  6. I do love that Cavies show! One of the best shows of the 90s! The reference is indirect as I just love to see Holst- especially Mars on the field. And the Cavies 95 just happens to be the best example of that!
  7. Keep doing what they are doing. 1. They usually medal 2. The fans as a whole love to see them 3. Young fans and prospective members especially love it- so they continue to attract elite talent and compete at the top level. 4. If people like the show they are more inclined to donate to the organization and/or buy merch It's like some of those 70s-90s Madison shows that were always competitive and the most well loved- but you know weren't going to bring home gold.
  8. Given the weight of GE- you can say this for any year where corps are very close in member talent level and achievement.
  9. I am very happy to see them doing so well. I just was hoping that their first medal would have a less sterile show design.
  10. 😬 percussion feature The snare line saves it then it comes together...but the hornline playing with ribbon dancers drives me nuts.
  11. This. Just because you can scream doesn't mean you should scream. The ensemble sound is much more tasteful and the main reason why I (actually) like BDs show this year. It's just a monster.
