  1. I am trying to watch every top 12 drum corps show since 1972, but I have no clue where to find all of these shows. Does anybody have any recommendations on where to find all of these shows?
  2. I love when Spirit plays Georgia. It is jaw dropping every time
  3. So far, nothing. I already know that I am going to add "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "When A Man Loves A Woman", but other than that, I have nothing.
  4. So I am currently putting together a flash drive with a huge amount of different "clips" from shows throughout drum corps history. I do not know what all to put on this flash drive, so I figured this would be the place to ask. What are some of the best musical moments in DCI history?
  5. I personally had a huge adoration for the Blue Devils 2016 show's closing "ballad". This was not their "ballad", but it was a slow segment of a song that I fell in love with after hearing it for the first time. They played Phillip Glass's ''Mishima'' and not only is it pretty when they played it, but i found a string quartet play it, and that is what I fell in love with the most ( https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiU69HJkdbXAhUFc98KHdvYAKMQtwIIMTAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D_4XMeY1RkWQ&usg=AOvVaw39FR230l4BfeMWPxQn0FrK )
  6. Bluecoats look to be killing it this year! But Crown looks awfully close... and Blue Devils have a great show this year they just need to bring a lot together. It is a pretty unpredictable season but it rarely is anyways posted from the DrumScorps app
  7. IMO Bloo 16 was groundbreaking. They had a very odd opener that hasn't really been done before. I mean the first notes played on the field was the percussion section clapping. The first hornline notes didn't come in until almost 2:30 into the show. Definitely groundbreaking but this years show isn't necessarily groundbreaking it's a regular drum corps show posted from the DrumScorps app
  8. I really enjoyed this years show Live, but everything after the ballad just seems a little "out there" for lack of a better term. It's impressive, but I tend to say this often, this is drum corps. This is not a broadway musical. I think this show will get in the top 5 at finals without a doubt in my mind. The first performance they had, they were prepared for. I got to see them practice live and I can say that they are definitely going to go places this year. posted from the DrumScorps app
  9. I love the ballad. Beautiful flugelhorn solo and great way of defining what the show means. They are definitely "morphing" into a better and better corps each year and they are not doing some of the stupid things that cavaliers and cadets are doing, which is trying to "change" (which they certainty are, but not for the better). posted from the DrumScorps app
  10. I love the show this year but I do have a few problems with it. Don't get me wrong here, I love their show, however I think that there are quite a few times where some simple changes would benefit the corps and how they would end up placing at finals. For the opener, the corps should just play the whole song (prelude) because it is a gorgeous song. It would be so much more emotional if the corps just played the song. And the ballad definitely needs some cleaning. It is really pretty but it feels like the trumpets overpowered the whole corps (which I don't have a problem with because I play trumpet). It does not blend well. And I think the uniforms are kind of stupid. I love the 2016 show uniforms because they couldn't have done some of the moves with the ramps and just the general movements they did with their normal uniform, but this year I see no reason for the uniforms to be simple clothes I can get at Walmart. I kept expecting the corps to come out from under the prop with the normal uniform which would have a been really cool and would be amazing in the general effect. But regardless of those things, they did put on a really nice show in Hamilton, OH which is where I got to see them live. Top three this year IMO. posted from the DrumScorps app
  11. Going on my own little rant here, but IMO, the Cadet's show is bad this year. It's not that it looks bad and it could use some improving, it's that the show is just crappy. I mean come on this is drum corps not a broadway musical. That's part of the same reason why I have problems with Crowns show this year is because it's not drum corps anymore. Drum corps is all about being loud and having a great hornline and percussion not a full on choir. It's just getting out of hand IMO. I love Crossmen's show this year because it has some really nice tunes and fits the field perfectly and doesn't have any crazy, overdone electronics or singing in it. It's really catchy and I don't necessarily want to go back to older drum corps days but I would like it if it were at least still "drum corps". posted from the DrumScorps app
