(Edit) Do not trust a thing I say!

My limited experience with stuff like this is that, when you file a civil lawsuit seeking damages, the lawyers sue every single party they think may have even the slightest bit of culpability. The more parties named, the greater the potential for $$. Then it is up to those litigants to petition the court to let them out of the case, if they believe they have no culpability. The judge ultimately decides who can be let out and who stays.

I signed on to the class action, but have heard nothing about a settlement. If it’s approved, i expect i will get my $0.16 in a few weeks. 😂

Or they could do both things at once. Do a “jazz” show with reinterpretations of standards in different formats. Think “Take 5” reimagined as a slow ballad, or a fast dance number?

BD has asked in the past. I can think of campaigns for Devils Food and for rehabbing Mars. I am sure there have been others.

Not uncomfortable at all! Just don’t have anything relevant to add. I have no legal, nonprofit, or drum corps experience to draw from. Other than a small financial interest i am just a life long spectator.

I get it, Ghost. And you are right, of course. But it’s come to the point where I don’t believe they will actually use my $$ as i direct. If they can be this careless and indifferent with actual human beings, why would they follow ANY rules? I don’t want to get off topic any further, so i think i will just go back to lurking.

Angry. Furious. As with SCV, i will sit back and watch what unfolds. But, and this may seem crass, but I don’t mean it to: does this mean that $$ i donated when they announced a suspension of the 2024 season, $$ i donated to help them get back on their feet, are actually going to be used to defend them for this??? THAT makes me ill. and now i am afraid to donate to ANY corps.

August 26, 2023 – VMAPA Board of Directors welcomes Rob Schiller, as newly elected Board Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair. Since 2004, Rob has worked for the North Carolina Symphony as their Senior Vice President and CFO and prior to that as the Manager of Budget and Finance for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Since joining the board a year and a half ago, Rob has been instrumental in helping with our PPP Covid loan debt forgiveness and Employee Retention Tax Credit filings and assisting with the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant accounting. Vanguard earned a substantial government credit as a result of Rob’s work. We thank Chris Anderson, outgoing Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair, for his three years of service to the organization and his diligence towards our fiscal goals during this time. Chris has offered his time to ensure a smooth transition with Rob which has been seamless.

Um. I think they did that just last year? Maybe not the announcing staff part, but i think they held auditions? I could be wrong…

I just did a quick search on “apply for non-profit grants” and found all kinds of hits. Here’s one on nerdwallet: “15 Grants for Nonprofits: How to Get Free Funding in 2023”.

This is going to sound snarky but i mean it with all due respect. If i wanted to find someone to talk to about writing/getting grants, i would simply start on the internet.

I don’t get that feeling at all. This information needs to get out and if this is how we have to get it, that works for me. I would rather hear this from SCV, but they aren’t talking. And I don’t get the feeling anyone on here doesn’t like them. To the contrary, i hear anger and pain because they DO like them and they want change. I can’t think of discussions that are MORE important.

I GOT your point. I understand your position and actually agree with you about props (mostly). MY point is that you took a non-inflammatory comment made as a counterpoint to your position and you made it sound like they took a reactionary, knee jerk reaponse. It seemed to me, like YOU were the one “Right on cue” with “instant resistance”.

I was going to let this pass, but it REALLY bugs me. What you see as resistance, i see as simply a response to your point. Every counterpoint is not necessarily a push back.

I agree 100% with this. i worked for 10 years for an employer who treated me well in an industry that was easily 99% male. They hired every female or POC who applied for a job. They just very rarely applied. Our company was as diverse as it could be.
