  1. I read it that way too, the first time. Made me stop and reread it!
  2. My deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved father. May his memory be a blessing.
  3. I didn’t say alumni WOULD feel disappointed, i said the MM likely feel they WOULD disappoint. i have never marched, so my comments are based strictly on speculation. I absolutely defer to people who did. But i have been around other youth activity “dynasties” (national and local) and know that those kids absolutely felt an unspoken pressure to maintain. my support for BD would never waver if they didn’t win. And i would applaud the MMs just as fervently as i always do.
  4. I agree. If i came off as being disappointed or negative, that is exactly the opposite of my intent. I think all of the corps put on great performances DESPITE being exhausted!
  5. Wow! You really are one for the extremes. I didn’t say they would be rejected. I said they would disappoint them. BIG difference. i’m done. Can’t carry on a conversation with you.
  6. Oh, come on! That is not a serious question, right? Kids in the other corps are all under some pressure to achieve, but in only rare cases are they EXPECTED to win, usually because BD stands in their way. If they win, that’s a bonus.
  7. You absolutely minimize the pressure they face. They are an internationally recognized group of young people who are EXPECTED to be near perfect. Regardless of how well taught, regardless of the advantages you feel they may otherwise have, i don’t know many 18-21 year olds that could handle that pressure 20-30 times over a couple of months. If they have an off night, not only do they let themselves down, but they let down their alumni as well.
  8. Your paraphrase is exactly what i have been trying to say. Even IF it is true that BD “starts on 3rd base” (a belief i do not agree with) there is no acknowledgment that the pressure to MAINTAIN that level, the expectations that these members carry, is enormous and that should counter any claim that they have a big advantage. IMHO, obviously.
  9. I have no idea BUT they looked tired. All smiles and showmanship but the sparkle seemed to be missing?
  10. Knowing what the shows “mean” should certainly add appreciation for what the corps are doing, but i would enjoy these shows even if I didn’t know the deeper significances.
  11. Easily my favorite BD show EVER! I have loved pretty much every show over the years, especially Metamorph, but this show grabs me in a completely different way. Way more accessible than Felliniesque, IMHO. And i won’t get to see it live until Indy! I doubt it can score better than a 99.65, but i DO think it will get close.
  12. Wow! Seeing the doc is an excellent idea. But I don’t know how reading these ridiculous threads will do anything but elevate that BP!
  13. BD performa Friday and then usually drives towards Pburgh, so if you hope to watch them rehearse, go Thursday or Friday.
  14. BD - from their website Hamburg High School 701 Windsor St. Hamburg, PA 19526
  15. I think we have still got a pretty big change coming. Likely at Allentown.
  16. You never heard “snark”? I am the QUEEN of snark! Allow me to welcome you!
  17. If they don’t change or add anything else, i would be ok with that. But you KNOW they aren’t done yet!
  18. I watched each corps improve from last night. As i watched them, i kept thinking “I don’t know. The Devs may be in trouble tonight!” And then they start… and i am all “oh. Yeah. Probably not!” 💙😈✂️
  19. I am concerned about this stomach thing. I noted one of the two cut-outs on the green props was missing last night. And i noticed some holes here and there that i don’t believe were intentional. If the MM are going to get this thing, i HOPE they get it now and not in a week. The way i see it, that’s the biggest risk they face as they head to the home stretch.
  20. You are not the only one who misses Poppy! I made comments on the Crown thread last season that were poorly received (i have tried to be nices this season!) but i think i always managed to not cross any lines. Poppy, however, enjoyed stirring the pot. His comments, which were often very insightful, were delivered in a way most likely to cause much gnashing of teeth! But he was VERY entertaining. And I don’t believe he had an ounce of malice in him. Towards the end of last season he made a comment towards someone else that was the last straw, apparently. He disappeared quickly.
  21. Ambien is kicking in. Thanks @Cappybarafor starting this thread. It’s been an interesting one! 🤣🤣🤣 💙😈✂️✂️✂️
  22. It’s like this for sports in general. Parents move so kid can play sport they excel at at a school that can get them to the next level. Which is why it is so important for the Devs to keep winning. As more corps get close, the kids have more options on where to take their talents. If they start losing, the talent will start heading elsewhere.
