I enjoy dreading going to work, hating my job, coming home and drinking myself to sleep, crying about fictional characters, writing fan fiction about said fictional characters, and confusing my friends and loved ones with other niche interests like... something akin to a musical spectator sport/performance art that takes place on a football field. Also, our president is a travesty and God probably doesn't exist. Amen.

  1. 🍻 Here's to all the MMs in the pit who put everything they have into their performances. Your contributions and dedication are much appreciated by many, and drum corps just wouldn't be the same without you. Your efforts are too often overlooked and under-appreciated, and the existence of this thread is proof of that. Keep being amazing and adding to the wonderful productions that you help enrich.
  2. I know we're all concerned about whether or not the corps and/or the activity will survive, but I suppose the silver lining - especially for all the old timers who constantly gush about the direction the activity is taking and how awesome they think it is - is that BoA will almost certainly still be around in some capacity as high school bands probably aren't going anywhere anytime soon. 😉
  3. God forbid they consider multiple options, geez.
  4. "Although HBCUs were originally founded to educate black students, their diversity has increased over time. In 2015, students who were either white, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander, or Native American made up 22% of total enrollment at HBCUs, compared with 15% in 1976." -Wikipedia
  5. God, I hope not. I still hate to think of the BD kids in 2015 when Crown was announced.
  6. I dunno, year after year I seem to care more about who wins CG, Perc, and Brass than overall placement. Sure, it's nice to see the show I love the most win, but... that rarely happens. At least in recent years, the Founder's Trophy is more like "yay you did the goodest in general" than the end-all-be-all.
  7. "if you're not wearing nails, you're not doing drum corps" whoops i meant "if you're not doing drill, you're not doing drag" jesus what is wrong with me "if you're not playing g bugles, you're not wearing spandex" no sorry what i meant to say was "if you're not keeping up with the times, the times are gonna leave your ### in the dust"
  8. really? because i wasn't a math major (for long), but it seems fairly all over the place. i guess it's not impossible, but it's difficult for me to buy into a coordinated effort
  9. lots of achievement scores outweighing the book (if those are the correct terms). setting my biases aside, these are easily the most fascinating sheets of the season
  10. well since you're all twisting my arm, i'll take a stab... 1) Bloo 2) BD 3) SCV 4) Crown 5) BAC 6) Cavies 7) Stars 8) Cadets 9) PR
  11. Given the weather forecast, I can't convince myself to make the trip...
  12. It's almost like I can -feel- the collective hiss from dcp as I type this, but... *whispers* Aerosmith?
  13. I was feeling down because I'll only make it to Valdosta this year, but it's sounding like Crown alone will be more than worth the trip! I can't wait!
