  1. The volume just got much louder on my end...y'all complaining must have done the trick for you, but now I have to turn mine down. Lol.
  2. The humidity today here was 74%, which is pretty low. About a week ago it was in the mid 90%. I miss being able to go outside, due to being bed ridden thanks to my knee surgery, but that day I was thankful I couldn't go outside. Lol.
  3. You wouldn't want to see me in a fight in my current condition, swinging my walker around on one foot. I almost fell earlier and about had a heart attack. Lol.
  4. I had a couple extended family members come up from the Miami area a few years ago, in September when it was 86, and they wore sweaters...excuse me?! Don't you know that you can stay hydrated by breathing here?! Lol.
  5. Come to Kentucky, it's 80 here. I have you beat, Miss Terri!!!
  6. I use it, but I'm too nosey for it to make a difference in my experience on here. Lol.
  7. It didn't help that everyone was trying to fit under the small shade from the pressbox, and that left the sun to bounce off the stands and into the faces of everyone attending. The stadium faced the sun, and the sun rose in the left endzone and set in the right endzone. There was no break from the sun at all.
  8. Do an early Texas tour. Start the tour in Texas. Whatever needs to be done, but I think we can all agree that Texas in Mid/Late July and Early August isn't a good idea. Pretty sure marching bands have band camp in June in some cases in Texas. If they're smart enough to do so, why isn't DCI??
  9. Sitting in metal stands can be just as hot, if not hotter than field heat. Local marching band competition in 2017 had 32 people pass out, but no kids. I left the stands after our performance (staff), and the temperature difference was unreal! It was cooler down on the field/track area than it was in the stands!
  10. Last show we had in Kentucky was 2018, so I feel you... Absolutely. San Antonio is 17 hours from Lexington, which is considered Central Kentucky. So it's not too bad in terms of tour. I already know the staff I would pull in, and they're local legends in their own rights. I've put a lot of thought into the idea, especially after the director I had for my first 2 years in marching band expressed interest in developing a corps when he retires, and he's one of the best with a few class national championships under his belt. Cheap for the sake of being cheap, or cheap because people are wanting to leave Florida? Lol. I went once with choir to Disney World for their Candlelight Processional, and it was 115 degrees in the shade...IN DECEMBER...not to mention the evil birds that wouldn't let us leave the hotel without attacking us. No thank you. Lol.
  11. I'm closer to Indy than Winston-Salem, but I still can't even make it there. The closest show for me this year was 2 and a half hours away. It use to be I could drive 45 minutes in any direction and hit a drum corps show.
  12. I always said that I would start a Drum Corps for underprivileged youth here in Kentucky. So many talented musicians here, but the closest drum corps is either Carolina Crown, Music City, or Bluecoats depending on which end of the state you're in. All of which are around 4 to 6 hours away from Central Kentucky. I would also donate to some of the less fortunate music programs across the state. We've had so many programs go non-competitive or even the districts dropping music programs all together. A school without music is just a scary thought to me.
  13. I'm seeing things similarly. I think Crown will be ahead of Bluecoats by a few tenths to half a point, with BAC similarly behind Bluecoats. BD is more than likely first tonight, AND YES I'M GOING TO SAY IT, due to performance time. Not everyone can be BD and perform 1st and win.
  14. Everything is starting to shift. Tornado Alley has started to shift. Kentucky and the Ohio Valley have seen more Tornados recently than any other time in history.
  15. If I win the lottery I'm paying for Crown to be relocated to my backyard. I'll build them a facility. Lmao.
  16. Has there ever been a season where the DCI tour along the coast has been impacted by a hurricane? Genuinely curious.
  17. PLEASE!!! I'm 6 and a half hours from Winston-Salem. Lol.
  18. Per DCI's Facebook post Broken Arrow will continue as scheduled.
  19. You would hope, but during my tenure teaching visual, they never learn. I don't know why people even lock their knees, it's super uncomfortable to me.
