  1. They then proceed to center the show entirely around the Cadets’ uniform cadets.
  2. A lot of the instructional and design staff came from BD (surprise surprise) and many had aged out within the last 4-5 years. Some came from The Academy of old (back when Sam Pilafian was there).
  3. I ended selling my pair of white marching shoes to the parent of one of the MMs for almost that exact reason. They were wearing a black shoe that was spray painted white.
  4. 7th Regiment is really killing it today. My first time seeing them this year and I’m pleasantly surprised!
  5. They have turtleneck-like masks that they can pull over their mouth and nose. He pulls that down.
  6. No worries, my aim was to start a conversation on something a little out of the norm. I would say that was still accomplished!
  7. Thanks for this, very cool! The biggest thing I notice is the tighter spread and there being one more corps in the grouping this year compared to last.
  8. While I agree with you on many points, I don't know that performers hopping from corps to corps will kill the activity. Sure it might cause the stagnation of placements at times and we see the same corps in the top 12, but I believe that might be changing recently. I personally stuck it out with my corps the entirety of my career and was able to be a part of one of the coolest movements in the corps history. Everyone is different.
  9. I don't know... I feel the idea of having the elite "Top 12" promotes competition more than without that threshold.
  10. If I had to add a couple corps into the mix I would say: Spirit: I've heard and seen quite a few good things prior to their debut. Blue Knights: While not entirely likely, Mandarins closing the gap on them at the last show tells me it could be a possibility. Phantom: Similar story with BK Oregon Crusaders: Another corps that we have yet to see that I believe can shake things up even more this season.
  11. There has been a lot of talk about these spots on many threads and I figured it would be fun to open up a dialogue on it. The competition between the corps in these spots is extremely fierce this year, more so than most years in my opinion. I believe we are going to see a lot of shuffling between corps in these positions and we will have to continuously reevaluate just who will end up in the top 12 this year!
  12. To my knowledge, Jim Tabuchi is the only volunteer director in world class. Possibly in the activity.
  13. Like everyone is saying, anything can happen. BUT!! If this ends up happening, can we all get video evidence?
  14. I couldn't agree more. And the vocals do add to that creepy/weird theme throughout the show.
  15. I believe it was initially in reference to Mandarins version of "True Colors"
  16. I wouldn't imagine they'd feel comfortable adding in another movement to a show on a show day rehearsal.
  17. I agree completely. I am also kind of missing that "BD innovation" that we have seen so much of lately.
  18. I genuinely cannot wait to hear how they use Spiriti as a closer. The ending of that piece is already incredibly powerful!!
