  1. I'll try: 1. Crown 71.00 2. Cavaliers 68.10 3. Phantom Regiment 66.80 4. Blue Stars 66.00 5. Crossmen 63.95 6. Colts 63.75
  2. I'll bet my Arizona oceanfront property that Phantom don't get last in brass [among the Corps that were at the Tour Premier].
  3. I didn't mind these...worked with the concept. But anyway...I think what really set the costiform debate off was the Bluecoats in 2016. That was so far from anything we'd ever seen before.
  4. Phantom 6th in Brass? That's interesting. Beating Boston in analysis is also interesting. Scores in general lower than I expected. Insert joke about West Coast inflation.
  5. My preseason pick to win it...we'll see how I feel in about 15.
  6. Thoughts on Boston after watching Concert in the Park Vid: Maslanka [both sections] are really, really solid. Rest of the show musically doesn't do a ton for me. We'll see what full product does for me.
  7. This is for sure my Phantom bias showing, and I have seen NOTHING from them, but I'm curious to see how much more Blue Stars drill is than what Phantom have, because I know that Phantom are hauling for the last 2 minutes or so.
  8. Not watching, are Phantom ahead of Blue Stars in anything besides hornline volume?
  9. For pizza in my neck of the woods you can't go wrong with Imo's [even though they're a bit expensive].
  10. I'll give it a run. 1. Bluecoats 73.25 2. Boston Crusaders 72.00 3. Cavaliers 71.50 4. Phantom Regiment 68.10 5. Blue Stars 67.35 6. Crossmen 65.00

  14. My first thought was basically that. Maybe it'll grow on me as the year goes on, but right now it strikes me like Vox Eversio and a lot of the Blue Devils shows from the past few years have, very well executed, but just ok from a personal effect point of view.
  15. I'll say 1.2 or so [complete conjecture on my part, because I have seen nothing from Devils]
  16. Some initial observations That ballad is really, really good... Ferguson with a solid drum book, as usual. Trumpets and Mellos are doing very good work. Should break 90 this year, we'll where that puts them place wise.
  17. 1. Bluecoats 2. Blue Devils 3. Crown 4. BAC 5. Vanguard 6. Cavaliers 7. Cadets 8. Blue Knights 9. Mandarins 10. Phantom Regiment 11. Blue Stars 12. Crossmen
  18. I think I heard something about a preview performance tonight at their spring training site in Indiana. Not sure if there's any video or anything from it.
  19. This shows how new I am to this activity (2016 was my first live show), but I'm curious. I know who Jim Ott, Fred Sanford and George Zingali are, and they definitely deserve the recognition. However, I don't know anything about Don Angelica and John Brazale. To those with more knowledge of their works and accomplishments, could you please give me some information on them?
  20. This is WELL before my time, but I've found myself going through videos of shows from the mid-90's on to pass the time. I'll say my bit on '01 Colts: Solid enough, nothing particularly remarkable. Not too much to say here Crown: Not able to find full show, 2 minute clip I saw was solid, tires were a unique touch Scouts: Typical Scouts, again not able to find full show, but I did find an absolute gem of Rondo introducing them at NightBEAT. "You may take the field in competition and blow the doors off the *HIT* stadium" BAC: Enjoyable music, arrangement of Gabriel's Oboe maybe a tad "extra" for my tastes, but a nice production Bluecoats: Nothing super memorable, but well done, as usual Crossmen: This was nice, Can't be mad at Jazz played well Phantom: Typical Phantom, I feel I'm one of the few that actually kinda likes the khaki (although the all-black of a few years earlier is gorgeous). I'm a sucker for Shosty, so this show gets a few brownie points for me Glassmen: This stylistically reminds me of Marian Catholic HS, very "stabby" (as one poster put it) opener, well done ballad (Flugel is very good) and a intriguing closer. SCV: Another example of their turn-of-the-millenium thinkpiece shows. Short Ride and Fat Pickin' is a very friendly opener and the drumspeak section (before the Green and Maroon corps used it) is another unique touch Cadets: No full show video again, (although I did find most of it in one video) but Moondance is always fun, the Hannibal is very warm and round (almost Phantomesque) and the Farandole is well done, with very nice drill as well BD: Awayday is a great piece (one I've actually played) and their hornline was insane Cavies: Michael Gaines and a very good drumline. Nuff said.
