I pay for tuition, I volunteer, I pay for corps meals, I spend a lot on airfare for auditions, camps, travel to and from shows, at least 20 nights in a hotel directly related to corps activity, merch...so much merch, Flo, all of the purchases at the truck stops. Sometimes I pay for a hot, private shower at that truck stop, too.

I have just heard from . . . a very well-placed source. BK indeed has a placeholder ending, both visually and musically. There is more of both still to be added, and both are definitely in the oomph category. It might not show up during this weekend's shows, but soon.
Not showing up this weekend at all.

Ah I must have gotten it confused with the fact that they have not had a closer on the field in the first 2 weeks for several years now
In both 2017 and 2018, at least, they had the closer on the field before they left Colorado. I mean, I sat there and saw it at the sendoff show.
They did not have their real closer last year. It was filler. They completely re-wrote in PNW.

Correct. It's the same old crap every year. We hear during spring training every year how great the Scouts sound and look. Love the music and new unis. Blah blah blah. Then the season starts and it's the same old crap and here we are 2 points behind the Colts, THE COLTS! This is a lousy leadership team that has failed every single year and has infuriated and alienated the alumni base. Dear God, what must they do to get fired? Madison BOD, rid your organization of this clown show before they do further damage that you may not recover from.
Yikes. The Colts are the litmus test for suckage? Do some of you even hear yourselves? Crapping all over The Colts and Scouts because the Scouts are two points behind them?
If marching members need to be told to avoid these forums because some of you can’t control your verbal diarrhea, maybe it’s time to re-evaluate your contributions.

"Liquid" will have you turning over the keys to your house. It is rock-'em-sock-'em Bocook/Shaw/Jackson.
Then “Hurt” will give you all the feels.

here is how I see the groupings, based on what I have seen & heard
1-3 BD, SCV, Bluecoats
4-6 Crown, Cavaliers, Boston
7-11 Mandarins, Cadets, Blue Stars, Crossmen, Blue Knights
12- 14 Phantom, Spirit, Academy
15-18 Colts. Scouts, Troopers, Music City
19-20 Pacific Crest, Genesis
21-22 Cascades, Surf
Look at you remembering there are more than 6-12 groups of kids out there competing. How refreshing.

My “way too early” clusters would be
SCV
(gap)
BD/Crown/Coats/Cavaliers
(gap)
Boston
(gap)
Cadets/BS/Mandarins

BK might have something to say about this line up.

I loved the show, but I don't know how many more death and resurrections I can take.

LOL! It’s neither death nor resurrection. The show follows the cycle of the sun. Dusk, night, morning.

OC could use some love, prayers, positive thoughts, whatever you do best. On the way to the Denver show they had an accident. The color guard bus rear ended the brass bus due to a sudden stop the entire fleet needed to make. I don't know all the details but I know some performers were not in the show last night because of this accident. There were minor injuries as well as shock reactions and at least one other corps stepped up after the show to assist in getting OC to their next housing site.
I believe everyone is all right but I have to give them a big thumbs up for performing as if nothing happened last night! I didn't know any of this until today.
Also, I have searched three times for the Oregon Crusaders 2018 thread and can't find it so I posted here.
Yes, they are ok, and thanks to BK, got to Nebraska just fine.

While I agree a jump from 13th to 7th may be overly ambitious, I would not be even a little surprised to see them 9th or 10th. Actually, I think expecting an 11th or 12th place finish would be selling them short. They are performing with a maturity and confidence people have not seen from this corps before. (And this is not a hopeful confidence. It’s a “Really, just watch, we’ve got this” type of confidence!) Major improvements in brass and guard; the best they have put on the field up to this date. I think a lot of people are going to sit up and take notice when they see Mandarins live, and they are going to be the big pleasant surprise of the summer.
How can it be a surprise when everyone is talking about them and expecting them to finish Top 12? They really aren’t the underdog this season.

I sad BD was complete. not SCV. I'm sure BD's closer will change, but the full show as it is now was on the field last night.
Then you misread because we were talking about BK, not BD.

Anyone Periscoping this?

They marched the whole show last night, but like everyone there this more to be added.
Nope. No closer.

Now that the West Coast scores are in, tonight has proven to be interesting. Take aways:
SCV has more of a punch than people said after last night. Second place for BD does not mean the season is over, and how the two stack up against Crown and Bloo remains to be seen. Cavies and BAC at a minimum will not loose ground, but since both seem to get in fuller gear as the season progresses, and Crown may have a trick or two in store, I expect the top 4 to be BD, Crown, SCV, and Bloo, trading places as the summer progresses with the possibility of Cavies and BAC being flies in the ointment.
BK needs to be concerned about Cadets and possibly Phantom. Judging from posts and not scores, it sounds like Cadets may have more to offer and while I see them as a solid 7th now, I may feel differently as the season progresses.
Mandarins are a probability for finals, Academy a possibility. Madison needs to be concerned, and can’t take comfort in it still being the early season. Mandarins especially sounds ready. Blue Stars and Crossmen will likewise have their work cut out for them. Colts could also catch people by surprise.
BK has a very unfinished show.

Weren't uniforms always androgynous?

I’m guessing they preferred that they appeared more *male*. Now they truly are androgymous and that’s a problem.

I think Flo is off to a great start. Watched the first show at a friends via Roku and DCI west via Apple TV. Solid pic, good sound balance (for not being there), and even solid multi cam work. Good job Flo!
Excellent multi cam work. Saw my kid a ton!!

1- Apple TV to 60something” tv, to built-in surround sound for multi cam
2- Apple TV to 40something tv no sound for high cam.
Is there a source for average age/experience of corps?

Corps like BD definitely depend on all of the other corps to do the heavy lifting for them. They aren’t interested in education or development. They want already finished products. It’s a tough one because of course kids want to win it just kind of sucks for the corps who do take the time to develop kids into excellent MMs.
