I'm pretty sure this year's show WAS an attempt at an "in your face" program. The problem is it wasn't well-designed and didn't work because the activity has passed their designers by and they need to catch back up.

On DCP, you only get hate from homers who don't like people speaking negatively about their precious corps (see above). Keep doing you!

I saw 67 in their ageout photo. Even if a few were missing, 80-90 is really high. I think 67 is already more than usual for them.

I'm pretty sure the black and red fedoras would be the first things to sell out at the DCI yard sale. I'm still trying to find a big enough bowl of chili so I can buy a BS spoon... Hard to find.

Does anyone know how many ageouts each corps had this year? I think for the top tier corps, the numbers are always around 35-50.

I think the one thing SCV has going for them is history, tradition and reputation. Despite some of the negatives that have come out the past couple years, I'm confident just because of their name, they will have no problem attracting strong talent again if/when they come back.

An announcer at an earlier show took a long pause and then somehow added 3 extra syllables. I almost want to make Milo a t-shirt with all of the bad pronunciations on it. 😂

I LOVE these reviews... They are very detailed, fair, accurate, and entertaining and funny. We also have the same top 4 faves, and I'm with you on who I wish got 5th. 😉 If I can suggest a few things, maybe you cannot play the music of the corps you're reviewing, but it would be helpful for someone who wants to skip forward to find the review of their corps if you keep a header/footer up of the corps you're reviewing the entire time, or a photo of that corps in the background instead of gaming vids. Also, can you say "corps" instead of "band"? 😂 But otherwise I'm totally onboard, so please keep these going!!!!

Some people just couldn't stand the idea that their precious corps was in a battle with a former D2/3 champion. They better get used to it cuz I don't think the Mandarins are going anywhere. 😁

In past years, there was always some criticism - percussion is weak, brass is weak, brass book is easy or don't play enough, singing doesn't belong in drum corps... So while they always got some fan support, this year was by far the most "fan-friendly" show ever. It was obvious from day 1 that they would bring down the house in Indy and be on a lot of "favorites" lists. Their design team and caption heads are all relatively new, so I imagine their shows are only going to get better, which is scary. I just hope they can meet or exceed the level of design they achieved this season and continue to connect with all fans.

I am sure every musical and visual choice is by design. But my point is I think that was a big part of why people couldn't connect to the show right away. Every corps has a big first hit - To me, it's like electronics and props... Have to have them to compete. 😁

Agree! It took me a couple shows to realize they didn't have any big hits musically in their opener. How do you engage the crowd without a big "here we are" moment in the first 2-3 minutes of your show?

You're right. But I feel like without a good foundation, it's hard to put this year on the techs.
