Which piece in the source music is that closer from?

There's a drill set near the beginning that reminds me of a previous show... I think it's 2011 but it could be 2010? Where the corps forms a circle with curved lines coming off of it; a similar set is in BD 2016 as well.

I would've had them first by a hair over Phantom 🙂

Is Mandarins' pre-show still as awkwardly long as it was last night? Otherwise I thought the show was incredible, but the pre-show seemed like it went on for longer than it needed to.

You’re the one who created an account four days ago seemingly just to post sexist and LGBT-phobic critiques of uniforms... get off of everyone else’s lawn. I don’t care where you marched or when if you’re not going to show a basic level of respect for other human beings.

I think that SCV might have a few changes up their sleeve, but we'll see. As far as Boston, you're right that they don't make as many huge changes during the season, but I think the changes Goliath needs are really similar to the changes SOS got during the season, so I'm optimistic. I totally agree on BD, Bloo, and Cavies - less sure about Crown but I'm excited to see what they do with it! That show feels the most like a "finished" (or nearly finished) product to me, though (not that I think it's a stronger show than others in the top 6, I just don't see as many design changes coming).

Yeah no hostility intended, I was just genuinely curious. I don't have a good enough concept of Cavies' show after one viewing to really have an opinion there, but I definitely agree on the other three. I think that SCV and Crown have some room to grow too (besides the obvious addition of a finished closer for SCV), but maybe less so in the case of Crown. Looking forward to seeing where all six of them end up (both design-wise and in placements) in August!

Out of curiosity which four of the top 6 do you think have potential for growth? Because right now it looks like all six of them do.

It's pretty rough... the scene where the Queen is beaten is more uncomfortable than I think it needs to be, a lot of the music feels directionless, and the story is very unclear. The drums sound really good, at least.

Why do you assume I didn't watch it? I did watch it, the visual design didn't work for me. I might've spoken a bit too harshly; sorry about that, but to say it more moderately, I feel like the Blue Stars have had a tendency in recent years to take a somewhat "gimmicky" design idea too far to the point where it detracts from the show as a whole. This year that "idea" for me is the entire visual package besides the drill itself (which I like quite a bit). The uniforms look tacky to me, I found the tent nap part uninteresting, and I have the same problem with the mountain that I had with Crown's tusk/horn/rib/claw things - they're just not integrated well into the rest of the visual design. That said, they do sound amazing, and the members are executing everything very well so I have nothing but respect for them — my problem is only with the design (and really just the visual design, although I'm uncertain how Dance Panels fits the show concept but it sounds great so I'll take it).

They sound great, but I'm not paying for tickets or a flomarching subscription to watch a drum corps take a nap in tents. And the "mountain" prop doesn't work for me at all.

There are a lot of words where a double "o" makes a long U sound... it's not that uncommon...

Yeah, I'm a bit concerned because it's easier to clean up technical dirt than rework the design, obviously there is some dirt to work on because it's June but overall the corps sounds and looks pretty strong. Also, I can't watch the drum feature before Valkyrie and not see a watered-down version of Babylon's dance/percussion feature.

After watching a video of the show... the corps sounds great, but the show design falls flat for me. The trombone feature is underwhelming to the point of sounding incredibly cheesy.

I think Mandarins will move up a couple of spots, Blue Knights and Crossmen will move down a couple of spots.
