Meanwhile, on the left coast
greg_orangecounty replied to wolfgang's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Calling the west coast the "Left Coast" is not political. Geographically we are on the left as the east coast is on the right. -
Watched the ceremony where Charles is officially named King. The Coldstream Guard "Rifles" were incredibly clean and "TIC FREE"! Right shoulder arms, left shoulder arms, port, present arms, parade rest, etc. were all beautifully executed. I understand if you're under 50 you don't appreciate it or care, but those of us from the tic era......it was beautiful š

WAY too much work. (and the BDs would win that too š) -
2024 Cadets Alumni Corps
greg_orangecounty replied to Tony L.'s topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Not "old" necessarily, just unable to do the physical requirements of a full-scale show. We had both scenarios and a rather large National Squad. We did a color presentation, so they didn't stand in the corner for the entire time. -

āHazingā Consequences (non-DC)

Women are not entirely innocent in this department. Some sororities can be brutal. Not physical pain and humiliation, but emotional. I think that is worse. -
āHazingā Consequences (non-DC)
greg_orangecounty replied to JimF-LowBari's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Thankfully attitudes towards hazing are changing. I pledged to SAE at the University of Southern California in the 70's. When I approached my father to complain about the hazing (he was a former President in the chapter) he looked me straight in the eye and said: "Son, you may not be worthy of the brotherhood." I can laugh about it now. -
Carolina Crown 2023
greg_orangecounty replied to MadisonBandMan1's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I didn't care for Crown's opening and the crowd participation stuff. Felt like band. But they tried something new and different and they should get credit for that. I'm glad Drum Corps doesn't look like it did in 1972. 50 years of the same thing.....? That would be Drum Bore. It sure looked like the kids in Crown were having fun too and that's what counts. -
Pitch me your DCI show concepts.

Picture it......a show based on 80's New Wave Female bands. -
BLUE DEVILS 2022 The Return

At the 3:00 mark there is a high group flag toss and at the catch there is a break in the music. I've never heard a group flag toss and sold-clean catch sound from flags. Rifles, of course, but flags!? So incredible and so clean. Amazing. -

Staff Merry-go-round

How come you can mention him but I can't....? I hope he goes away forever never to been seen again but, I also know some of the arc of Drum Corps history. I am told here he is "banned." I'll believe it when I (don't) see it.
