  1. Oh, darn! Forgot to remind the police officers. Doh! https://www.the-sun.com/news/6253019/police-officer-faints-queens-funeral/
  2. Big day tomorrow. Someone remind all the British soldiers standing at attention for long periods not to lock their knees.
  3. Totally agree. All eras are great, just different. And who wants the same thing year after year? That would be Drum Bore.
  4. High school bands were copying Drum Corps as far back as the early-mid seventies. I saw the Bottle Dance & Kingsmen 1973 OTL guard work by two band in the same district in CA. I remember rolling my eyes at the time, but it was actually a compliment.
  5. Often times when a new leader is installed they want to bring in their own people, those they are familiar and more comfortable working with. Happens all the time. Doesn't necessarily mean it's anything nefarious.
  6. Sick of seeing this again and again and again. I'm all for castration for convicted perps of sexual abuse and I don't mean chemically. Enough is enough.
  7. Calling the west coast the "Left Coast" is not political. Geographically we are on the left as the east coast is on the right.
  8. Watched the ceremony where Charles is officially named King. The Coldstream Guard "Rifles" were incredibly clean and "TIC FREE"! Right shoulder arms, left shoulder arms, port, present arms, parade rest, etc. were all beautifully executed. I understand if you're under 50 you don't appreciate it or care, but those of us from the tic era......it was beautiful šŸ™‚
  9. 1973 Anaheim Kingsmen for the 16 count opening guard work alone.
  10. The British didn't invent pageantry and pomp, but they sure perfected it. I'll be glued to the T.V. for the state funeral Monday 09/19. Play along with me and count the number of British uniforms you see that Drum Corps emulated over the years.
  11. Peace and healing to you and all other survivors that this activity hurt. Thank you for your response.
  12. WAY too much work. (and the BDs would win that too šŸ˜‘)
  13. Not "old" necessarily, just unable to do the physical requirements of a full-scale show. We had both scenarios and a rather large National Squad. We did a color presentation, so they didn't stand in the corner for the entire time.
  14. Women are not entirely innocent in this department. Some sororities can be brutal. Not physical pain and humiliation, but emotional. I think that is worse.
  15. Thankfully attitudes towards hazing are changing. I pledged to SAE at the University of Southern California in the 70's. When I approached my father to complain about the hazing (he was a former President in the chapter) he looked me straight in the eye and said: "Son, you may not be worthy of the brotherhood." I can laugh about it now.
  16. I didn't care for Crown's opening and the crowd participation stuff. Felt like band. But they tried something new and different and they should get credit for that. I'm glad Drum Corps doesn't look like it did in 1972. 50 years of the same thing.....? That would be Drum Bore. It sure looked like the kids in Crown were having fun too and that's what counts.
  17. At the 3:00 mark there is a high group flag toss and at the catch there is a break in the music. I've never heard a group flag toss and sold-clean catch sound from flags. Rifles, of course, but flags!? So incredible and so clean. Amazing.
  18. How come you can mention him but I can't....? I hope he goes away forever never to been seen again but, I also know some of the arc of Drum Corps history. I am told here he is "banned." I'll believe it when I (don't) see it.
