  1. Soooo awesome!! I don't usually watch it but I will this year. Thank you Band Directors! Would Drum Corps have ever existed without y'all?
  2. Not understanding why it's assumed Garfield will fold if they lose this case. Although all the money in the world can't make up for the trauma and harm of sexual assault the reality is the average judgment settles for under a million - it's not right, or wrong, just statistical reality. The fact it happened 40 years ago will also come into play in terms of monetary damages. Their insurance should be able to cover and if they end up folding it will be for other reasons, not this.
  3. Oh, how awful. Those poor kids and their families. Prayers said.
  4. Wow. 1985 is considered "vintage"......? What's older than vintage 😬?
  5. I don't see it as a sign of trouble. Corps need funding all the time and towards the end of the year is a good time to remind folks of that.
  6. "AF".....? After fishing, Always fascinating, Artichoke fever, Apple fritter?
  7. But those kind of people are miserable anyway and anonomous message boards are just an outlet. We can't afford to lose Garfield, nor Santa Clara. The vast majority of us want to see both succeed. Have faith, 2000Cadet.
  8. Nor should they respond to anonymous people on an Internet message board as that's all it is. And nothing posted on DCP, true or not, is going to be used in any litigation.
  9. That's too bad. Non-binding arbitration is usually a complete waste of time and money. It's expensive, time consuming, and rarely resolves the dispute. At least one party will not like the results and pursue the case further. You basically get to pay attorneys twice for arguing the same case. And guess which group developed the concept of 'non-binding arbitration'?
  10. Mediation is a less expensive process and it's done on the belief that two parties can come to a mutual agreement. Arbitration is a more expensive process and less desirable especially if you have a weak case.
  11. Arbitrators listen to facts and evidence from both sides and render a binding decision. Mediators try to get each side to come to a mutual agreement.
  12. In retrospect, it was probably never a good idea to mix kids and adults in close quarters and on the road for weeks at a time.
  13. I don't fully trust GoFundMe, so if I cared enough about Garfield to donate I'd do so directly. And I wish them the best.
  14. We were a small corps and our "audition" consisted of a pulse check. If you had one you were in.
  15. "You" want our money you get our opinion. 🙂
  16. I need a refresher. Seems like they keep changing their minds on giving rescue breaths.
  17. Hopefully the psycho did himself in already and it's just a matter of finding the body. And if not, may God bless the FBI sharp shooters.
  18. Most likely 0%. In my opinion those that post the most regarding Santa Clara and now Garfield actually care the least about those corps. It's mostly self-serving, self-promotion, and self-aggrandizement.
  19. Still have my Kenwood system in its faux oak cabinet I brought from Circuit City in 1981. Two wives tried to make me get rid of it (speakers are 5' tall) along with my records, but I held out. They know now, but our grandkids used to ask "what's that crackling sound for"?
  20. I knew if I kept it long enough it would come back in style. I have a vinyl record of DCI Finals 1974 with Kingsmen, Blue Stars, & Muchachos. It's a bit scratchy, but still fun to listen to especially if I've been drinking and feeling nostalgic.
  21. I feel their interests are self-serving and self-promotion under the guise of "helping others" and they really don't care about the activity at all. And the block feature this website has fixes everything. If it didn't exist, I'd have to double my Lisinopril dosage.
  22. I thought it was Chick Fil A. No? They're privately owned and as such don't offer public stock.
