  3. YEAH - How will we know when to do the VANGUARD yell? BTW, I was the only person to yell in my movie theater last month....
  4. ....So I'm walking through a parking lot with my wife & daughter last night, and out of the corner of my eye I see that SCV is here!! Well, not quite, but we WILL see THE REAL ONES next weekend in SoCal.
  5. The quality's not too good, but I found this one on Facebook.
  6. Well, at least it has a better chance than some of THESE

  8. Beethoven - Ninth Symphony - a part of many orchestras' holiday programming.
  9. Well, not exactly, but Pipes, Drums, and Highland Dancers of THE ROYAL SCOTS DRAGOON GUARDS & THE BAND OF THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS will be in the house Sunday night at 7:30 pm.... Pipes will wail, drums will rattle, and highland dancers will reel as these world-renowned regimental guards take the stage with pomp and pageantry. Experience the colorful pageantry of these two centuries-old institutions in one unforgettable evening!
  10. This Thursday through Sunday the San Diego Symphony will be featuring Stravinsky's Firebird: Suite at its downtown concerts at Copley Symphony Hall. In its Jacobs Masterworks performances on Friday through Sunday they will also perform Haydn: Symphony No. 94, (Surprise), and the west coast premiere of the Liebermann: Piano Concerto, featuring pianist Jeffrey Biegel. The next few months of the Symphony's season includes some of drum corps favorites almost every week.....
  11. That IS a wow.....I'm listening to Cavaliers 1980 right now. Will always remember him with arms raised facing the crowd during the final push of "Softly as I Leave You".
  12. If you can't wait until March for "Firebird", the San Diego Symphony has it going on February 7-8-9-10.
  13. For those of you (like me) who love it LOUD, the San Diego Symphony is featuring Pictures at an Exhibition in its concerts this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I've got my SCV playing now to get ready!
  14. This was a wonderful story - beautifully told. Thanks for sharing.
  15. I take whatever I can get. The more the better. My wife is not a drum corps fan. While I do purchase the DVD's each year, it's impossible to get my family to watch the full corps shows with me. They will, however, watch the ESPN2 broadcast, because it's fast-paced with corps highlights and features mixed in. So, the way I see it: I got to look forward to and enjoy the webcasts. I got to look forward to and enjoy going to Nats. I'm looking forward to watching the broadcast with family & friends. I'll watch the DVD's when I need a hard-corps fix.
  16. The current official seating capacity is 92,542.
  17. Oh no....someone named TXMystreaux has a bad opinion of me!!
  18. Hey folks, it's nothing new. Booing has been present in the world of opera forever. Heck, Placido Domingo was booed at the Metropolitan Opera last year. Famed conductor Leonard Slatkin encourages booing for the audience to tell management what they think of the programming. (You hear that George??....We HATE IT!!!) For God's sake....Burt Bacharach was booed LAST NIGHT for singing a song with political overtones at a Pops concert in San Diego. I know....it's all about booing the kids. My son was booed regularly when he marched in the USC Marching Band (people seem to get ###### off when their favorite team is getting their butts kicked). He loved it when they would get booed. OK flamers.....have at it.
  19. Yeah baby...I'm home in San Diego.....just came back from nine holes at Torrey Pines...As soon as my son wakes up, we're driving up to Pasadena for three days of DRUM CORPS!!
