  1. Any updates/insights on how Scouts are doing? I missed the founders zoom meeting this past week. Did anybody register and watch? There seems to be very little info or even tidbits coming out of Madtown lately!
  2. Where are you getting this? There’s no link posted and there’s nothing on their website. Am I missing something?
  3. So many great Madison years…among my favorites are 92, 95, 97…..I loved the ballad from 2006 (actually I’ve really warmed up to that entire show over the years)….and speaking of ballads, I’m really liking this year’s ballad and how they reprise it at the end. And I double what Vuitton said about the 84 closer! That was epic! (Btw, I love how the 2015 closer makes a nod to 84!)
  4. Just listened to an audio recording from a recent run through and gotta say….brass and percussion are both getting really good and cleaning up! This show musically has some serious power and I’m digging it! Can’t comment on visual because I haven’t seen any recent clips….but as far tonight and this final week, GO SCOUTS!!!
  5. Watching the video from a couple nights ago….wow! What an improvement and what a powerful brass line! I’m really digging this show. Percussion is on fire, seeing the drill from higher up, I think it’s a lot better that I had thought, and seems like they’ve added some stuff. And the guard is starting to click. I think with continued cleaning and some more visual added, this show could contend for the top 12.
  6. I’m really digging this offering of the Madison Scouts! I really liked last year’s show too, but this definitely takes it up a notch for me…brass is making great strides and putting out the power and energy! Drum line is really grooving and playing some major notes and doing it pretty cleanly (from what I can tell as a non drummer), guard is starting to clean up…and now that I’ve seen the drill from up top, there are some great moments and a lot of potential to grow as they start to clean! And….LOVE the Kenton piece!! GO SCOUTS!!
  7. I read that they are doing a dress rehearsal tonight at 8:30pm central time.
  8. Please….no spats! Unless you’re gonna do the exact 1981-82 replica uniforms! By the way, I think the coolest “Madison” looking uniform/costume of late, was the 2021 look. Very crisp, very modern, and very Madison!
  9. Dang! Looking forward to this….could be a power packed show!!
  10. Ah ok, great! Thanks for the clarification! Glad to see Scott’s involvement. Over the years, I have enjoyed his arrangements, both with Scouts and other Corps!
  11. I saw the announcement a couple weeks ago about Scott Boerma being appointed to the brass staff, but now I don’t see him listed anywhere on the Scouts’ staff page. Is he out already? If so, wow…what a quickly revolving door they have over there! I hope it’s not the case because I’d love to see what he can add to the Scouts’ sound!!
  12. This is spot on. I would also add that I think for some, having been a Madison Scout is their entire identity, so they take everything personally when things don’t go their way. I’ve had moments in the past where I have felt like that. What changed it for me was the realization that once I stepped off that field for the last time, it was no longer about me or how I think things should be. It’s about the members and staff that are there NOW! How can I do my part as an alum to help ensure that all of them have an amazing life changing experience that I had 30 some years ago? Some of it is moral support and enthusiasm, some financial, but most importantly, it’s showing solidarity to the organization as it goes through changes and challenges…and giving this staff/administration a vote of trust and confidence that they are doing what needs to be done. Will they make mistakes, probably, but I have faith that people learn and grow that way. Sorry if this is long winded, but I thought I’d throw in my two cents
