medical neglect is abuse. not every victim of abuse responds to it the same way. some people will totally block out the emotional turmoil. these people from scv care about scv and dci, hence why they are not trying to take legal action or whatever. again, speaking out about negative experiences *is* good. if the person from scv had a broken foot, the staff should not make them march. if the person from crown had a leg injury, they should not march. these are preventative measures to ensure these young people are healthy going into the future. these people are not trying to tear anything down, they're trying to build a better and safer environment so that drum corps remains a positive space. if my high school marching band could take member health and safety into consideration, so can these world class drum corps. furthermore, you mention earlier, as a completely boggling defense, that "some of these corps didn't have medical staff," how does that make anything better or justifiable? again, neither did my high school, but when we had a student dislocate his knee, we called for an ambulance. medical neglect IS abuse. it always has been. time period does not change this. so many young marchers who participated in drum corps or even high school band have suffered life altering injuries, no matter how minor they may be, at the hands of medical neglect. not to mention as well, but they even talk about the staff being highly critical and inflammatory regarding guard members weight. that's absurd in any regard. it's one thing to want to keep students in good health, it's another to take their cookies, criticize underweight student's food consumption, and encourage unhealthy and unrealistic weight standards, all while working these kids to the bone in the one of most physically demanding activities a young person can do. THAT is abuse. through and through. kids these days arent being soft for expecting our team activities to account for our health and safety. suffering is a necessary thing to help people develop, but leave the suffering to things like loss in the family, and keep the suffering out of our youth team activities. i truly wish you could see it this way.

she seemed really humble im the podcast episode. speaking out about things like this can be extremely emotive, given its such a passionate topic. i mean, she literally like studied physical conditioning and stuff as a result of this so she could help other prevent similar things. if an experience you have impacts your life enough that it completely shapes the future you envision, i can understand why they can be emotive and defensive when discussing it.

"i don't like your politics, so i don't respect anything else you have to say" negligence is negligence, negligence is abuse, abuse is abuse. full stop. politics has nothing to do with this, man. "it doesn't bother me, it shouldn't bother you." "other people went through it, so it's fine" these people clearly do care about vanguard, and drum corps as a whole. sharing hard stories is good. it helps make things better for everyone. we are all in pursuit of a better life, both in and out of the activity.

Top Drill Moves: 2025 DCI Finals
Ashontheinternet replied to DCP NewsFeed's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
bluecoats had some really awesome drill this year, especially in the opener and after the ballad. i love how many corps did this move where they would go from really spread out and then condense super fast into a blob thing, it was super cool visually. -
guys, i just got word, EVERY designer and staff member in Drum Corps and BOA is quitting their jobs to go work at Crown!

Bluecoats 2026
Ashontheinternet replied to Jurassic Lancer's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
yeah, that's kind of why i think the bluecoats should do it, i never envisioned grow til tall, ____45_____, or Solitude being first pick choices for a drum corps show, but bloo just knows how to make it happen. they love to adapt artsy "obscure" type songs for their programs. well, as obscure as bon iver and m83 can realistically be hah. -
Bluecoats 2026
Ashontheinternet replied to Jurassic Lancer's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
bump! bluecoats, in my opinion, are king at beautiful ballads utilizing more "modern" tracks as opposed to classical music. their adaption and arrangement of ____45_____ by bon iver still remains to this day as one of the greatest and most expressive ballads of the decade so far, imo. i bring all this up to say, i have been listening to this album from a modern New York underground legend Cameron Winter, and his song "Drinking Age" feels like it has all the marks of an absolutely stellar and moving ballad for Bloo to adapt. i'm sure this wont happen, the staff already have a pretty decided selection of music usually, but if anyone out there at bluecoats see this someway somehow, please consider this! -

Boston Crusaders 2025
Ashontheinternet replied to Liahona's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
im sure it had some help, but former cadets spread out pretty much nationwide, and i can't imagine there are that many cadets left still marching, at least not enough to significantly impact or jelp out boston's recruiting. i think the biggest help with recruiting is that they rose to the top really quickly and became a bit of a fan favorite to win, so they attracted a lot of talent. especially after last year taking home the silver over the blue devils. -
i dont have much to add but crossmen had one of my favorite programs this season. it was just really fun. i dont know, or really care what holds them back competitively, it would be great if they could find competitive success with the same or similar design team going into next year. makes me really sad to see so many people didn't like the xmens output this year.

of every moment this season i wish i could have seen in person, this is my number 1. the way the trumpets stand perfectly still and this music just envelops the listener, i feel like it just had to be so surreal to see in person.
