  1. DCI recently put up and infographic displaying how many currently open spots there are for this season, and the numbers are slightly concerning me. i do not remember there being this many openings this time last year. BRASS | 341 FIELD PERCUSSION | 93 FRONT ENSEMBLE | 67 COLOR GUARD | 434 !! CONDUCTORS | 6 is it just me or do these numbers feel excessively high being this late into preseason? theres only like 2 months left until most corps start move-ins.
  2. i understand what you're saying, but i raise you this; bluecoats 2022 and 2023. the selections performed might as well have been carbon copies on the field. Bump and ____45_____ especially. those arrangements were so true to the original, and super musical. these are outliers though, not the standard, unfortunately.
  3. crazy this is 10 years old. i never really was able to buy into fellini, probably just because i was too young and was exposed to it much later than most. it was undoubtedly one of the best performed programs of all time, but personally i never bought into it. the 2014 season was a behemoth for dci, one of the most interesting in recent time. i definitely am going to need to compare this season to 2014 both competitively, and how far we've come technically.
  4. emerging from my cave to say how excited i am for bloo this year. was relistening to garden and riffs this morning and remembering how unbelievable this group has sounded the last few seasons, and how great im sure they'll sound this year. im not a betting person nor am i good with predictions, but i just have this really good feeling this year for bloo. an intense positive energy. in another note, one of the snares from last year's line is currently on staff for the indoor percussion ensemble here in my area, super cool dude, and super smart. the training at bloo is incredible and i hope i get the chance to march with them someday.
  5. just popping in to say that i got my Bloo "From thee 50" vinyl today, and man does it sound good! best ive ever heard this program. very much worth the money i paid.
  6. well, i am officially on the bloo24 waiting list. i already am getting a little anxious, auditions are always scary, but ive got a senior year high school band season to worry about first. i am beyond stokes to hear and see what bloo has in store for this season, and am ready to embrace it fully, wether that is on through a screen, or on the field. until next season, dcp, thanks for sharing such an unforgettable season with me šŸ«”
  7. this show was personally kind of life changing but that's a story for a different audience. bloo performed the hell out of this program every night. i will remember this show until i die. in terms of design, i believe this show to be perfect. musically, visually, and conceptually engaging and compelling from start to finish. thank you, bloo. i wont forget this.
  8. i will be auditioning for bloo24 on trumpet this year, for real. no take backs. i hope to be on that field next year. savings account has been slowly filling since i pulled out of last years audition process. i regret not auditioning last year with every fiber of my being.
  9. that tune from the scouts was very moving. thank you scouts and thank you dan acheson.
  10. form to form drill and good visual credit are not mutually exclusive. bd is astoundingly clean in the feet technique and choreo, and the amount of complex demand that playing loud and tonefully while performing complex dance techniques is not something to sleep on. not only that but look at the last minute or so. actual visual madness.
  11. how do you even compete with a run like that. holy. wow.
  12. may be a dumb question, but is there a hole in the marine corps? looks like someone is missing.
  13. the marine drum and bugle corps is just rad. it is so cool to see such a traditional style drum corps production from them. in a dci landscape ruled by props, tech, and costumes, which don't get me wrong are all things i enjoy, it is really cool too see one very traditional program on the field every year.
  14. don't exactly know how i feel about the spread between 1-2 tonight. i didnt see the show, so i have no idea. i am surprised though. good job blue devils, and good luck bloo, bac, and crown. 2-4 is unbelievably close right now.
  15. crown, bloo, and boston have been tossing and turning so much this season, it is absolutely exhilarating. hoping the best for bloo tomorrow, and sending all the member good luck. lets go bloo!
  16. do they do the same thing though? 2017 was about the blue devils growth, 18 was about a painting, 19 was theatre, 22 was about the color blue and its different meanings and history, and this year is about an art style. none of those are the same thing lol. their music sounds similar year to year cause its been the same staff for a million years. many corps do this. bloo does it, troop does it, even boston and crown do it. the difference is that BD is just madness when it comes to cleanliness and stuff. can we go back to talking about the bluecoats now though? blue devils arguments in the bluecoats thread is giving me a headache.
  17. top 4 did insane, how these judges can even come up with scores blows my mind. if i was a judge it would be a 4 way tie. also that Bloo run was the best birthday present i never could have asked for.
  18. will be seeing prelims in theatres. dci championships starting on my birthday is one hell of a birthday present! love it.
  19. all i can say is that if bloo builds on tonights show and energy they will be dangerous in championships.
  20. is it just me or does the transition into the drunk goofy section feel really clunky and sudden?
  21. just gonna pop in and say that BTAL is gonna go places soon. a lot of potential there and after these first few season will happily find their way into the top 3.
  22. i think something here to consider is that our friend barry might not know how long he will be fighting the effects of his illness. maybe barry is worried if he takes time away from the job he does, he might not get the opportunity to do it again. personally, i didn't hate his announcing and i thought it was way better than some other announcers ive heard in the past. i respect barry for pushing through and pursuing the job in spite of his situation. it takes guts to put yourself in front of tens of thousands of people to make announcements, and i respect the effort.
