  1. BD 2014. I hadn't liked any of their shows many years before that. I loved it and totally agreed with how they were scored except the brass. I thought Crowns' brass was just a teensy bit better than BD. BAC 2023. I was so skeptical about them. Until I saw them live in Broken Arrow. I had friends outraged that they placed above Crown. They watched them from streaming. You just had to see them live and in person to understand how they placed higher than Crown. Even though Crowns' my corps, BAC was better at that performance. They were so good I broke down and bought a "White Whale" shirt. The last time I bought any merchandise other than Crown was in 2013. So that's saying something. But in the end Crown surged ahead and finally medaled again. They hadn't medaled since 2017 and it was about time they did. Anyways...BAC 2023 live was phenomenal. My favorite show after Crown. Rambled on a bit, didn't I?
  2. I knew about drum corps the summer before my freshmen year in high school(2001). My director called me a day before the event and asked if I wanted to go. I had no idea what it was but went anyway. I'm sorry to say I can't really remember anything about what I watched except the Cadets. Mainly because we watched them training on the field before the show that night. I didn't get back into DCI until 2012. The shows I wish I had scene before that time was Crown 2009, 2011, 2012 Phantom 2008 Cavies 2003, 2004, 2011. Since I reconnected with the activity SCV 2017 and 2018 Bluu 2019
  3. They hammered the phrase 15 times I think. Because of that it was my least favorite Crown show since 2008.
  4. 2013 and 2014. 2013 was very significant for me. It was my first time going. What made it even better was that Crown became favorite corps after 2012 because of their brass sound. So I was rooting for them. I didn't really follow dci after 2005 until 2012. That spring we discovered my mom had cancer and I would just think about that nonstop until I came across a recording of Crown. It blew me away and took my mind off the issue. I decided that no matter what I planned on attending finals in 2013. Little did I know then that Crown would make history and I would be there in person to witness it. 2014 was a bit more enjoyable because I liked more shows than I did in 2013. It also helped that I had a seat on the 50 yard line. Bloo made history by taking the silver. BD also received the highest score in history. I actually loved the show. A big change because I didn't like their 2013 show at all. But the main thing was some really incredible people gave my cousin for free. She was in a wheelchair.she had been guard before that but never knew what dcii was. I took her to see SCV practice in 2013 and she was so moved by them I let the corps know how much they touched 18 year old girl in a wheelchair. It touched a lot of people and they gave us the means to go to 2014 finals. I enjoyed the shows but what I really loved was watching her reactions throughout the night. Sorry I rambled on.
  5. This is so refreshing...coming here and not finding posts about how Crown 2022 could have moved up and pointing out their faults like at the beginning of the 2023 thread. I'm sorry to say I was one of those guys. But 2023 just totally clicked in all areas for me. There was a lot of talk about the ballad duet and the quartet made mistakes that we haven't heard before. But they weren't the only corps to have that happen on finals. I'm so excited for what could happen in 2024. Which hasn't happened for me since 2017. I went into 2017 expecting great things, but even though they medaled with the bronze and won the Ott, it wasn't my favorite show and it didn't have me pumped for 2018. They won those same rewards this year and I'm really looking forward for what they have in store next summer. There wasn't a huge ageout number so hopefully there will be a lot of returning veterans and even a better percussion turn out. It seems GE shouldn't be a problem anymore either. All those good things are a recipe for success. I know it's silly but I'd really like it if they wore hats like they did from2013- 2017. Sorry for rambling on and on.
  6. Crown Boston Troopers Mandarins BD Honorable mentions Colts/ Cadets
  7. So what are the visuals that took them to third? That seemed to be the deciding factor... Drill...spacing...I imagine how well they.move during from one set to yhe next...
  8. Like I said, bronze with a side order of Ott isn't bad. Not bad at all
  9. No matter what this felt like the most fulfilling season I've got from Crown since 2016.
  10. Not sure they're gunna pass Bloo. But I think bronze with a side order of Ott isn't bad.
  11. Ohh...that's new. Was that wind chimes they added at the end, or have I just never heard that bit before
  12. I don't see them catching Bd but it's much easier to see them pass bloo for the silver. Even if they drop to 4th tomorrow(which I don't see happening) they're still taking the Ott home.
  13. Scores won't be announced until after 11 even though the judging is over. Will the scores be up on the website before then?
  14. If they take first in brass tonight they'll most likely take the Ott Saturday since it's an average of all the nights.
  15. It has to be the inconsistencies because I thought they were better than bloos guard and yet bloo scored higher.
  16. I don't buy crowns guard took 4th...but that's what the recap says. Super pleased with the brass score.
  17. I noticed the little slips too...but I thought they were better than bd...not by much. I haven't heard those slips before so I'll chalk it up to nerves
  18. Anyone wanna take astab at their score score tonight? They scored 95.725 at their last show in Pittsburgh, which is higher than they scored in prelims last year with a 95.55. I wouldn't be surprised with 96.2 or higher. Btw...anyone know why they've never filled a hole. It's either a trumpet or mello. They've had it since the beginning of the season. Sometimes you cant tell because of spacing issues throughout the show.
  19. They just need to be clean. They've got the brass, GE isn't really a problem, neither is guard. Percussion could go either way. The consistency hasn't been there. But as long as they're clean I'm not worried.
  20. Gotcha. Thought it sounded kinda neat but I'm just as happy without them...there's always a chance that the recorded vocals can glitch. If that happened at the beginning of a show it would diminish the effectiveness for the rest of the show.
  21. The Murfreesboro video the vocals seemed much louder than they were used in Atlanta and NB...was it the Flo recording or was it that loud there in person? There's comments on the video about how the vocals just diminish the brass sound. I hate to say it but I thought they enhanced them and added GE. I missed hearing them for both the Atlanta and NB videos up. I hated all the chanting from last year and wasn't crazy about the use in 2019, but that video of them at Murfreesboro is my haven't video of them that's up.
  22. Oh, I don't doubt a definitive crown set will be there, not just the guard forming it, but the horn line/ drum line like usual. I bet they already have it. They just need to clean
