  1. Its a great venue for drum corps...not too small, not too large. Corps sound great there. There is lots of parking nearby if you are able to walk a couple of blocks. Minimal parking right next to the stadium unless you arrive very early.
  2. Last year the Phanathon appears to have been in May. Tony Hall's video revealing the show is dated May 12.
  3. Seems like the last two years the show and uniform reveal was right before the move in for "Spring Training."
  4. Actually, in 2008, it's a shame if you missed Finals in Bloomington. The top four were all incredible. And, the scores were so close. Phantom barely squeaked it out over the visually perfect Devils, and both the Cavies and Crown were just as worthy as the top two.
  5. If you look on facebook at the Phantom Regiment 2024 audition groups, looks like about 470 auditioned for brass, 200 for percussion and 260 for guard. Didn't see a group for drum major. Call backs issued for December.
  6. 1988, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013-2019, 2022-2023
  7. I am very proud of this corps. Very underrated in several captions in my opinion. Keep this staff and let fhem work together!
  8. What yard line is Chief's son on when the show starts?
  9. Small lines at gates of about 20 in each line. They have 5 more lines past the main gates for those with no bags or purses. About 6 in each of those lines.
  10. Even more amazing was the blind backwards high speed drill that got to the last set.
  11. Just got to my hotel. I can say that all my section, which included Phantom's drum major and trombone soloist, stood and clapped for BD. Excellence is undeniable, and the fact that some resent BD should be worn as a badge of honor. It means they are the best at what they do.
  12. Sorry for your loss Hook'em. She sounds like a great person. Finish strong Cavies!
  13. This is indeed the case, it has been this way for years. All rehearsals closed except the Wednesday night last block and run through.
  14. Thanks, last year when another death occured, I kept the extra seat empty. Another extra seat this year since John died. He was a huge SCV fan. It would be cool to at least meet some fellow PR phans while there. I have been donating and supporting PR any way I can since the late 80s.
  15. How many is in your group? This is the second year in a row I will end up by myself because of a death. My drum corps buddy from near Rochester passed away suddenly at home on 7/5.
  16. Mandarins, Colts and Blue Stars weren't in Atlanta...
  17. Hate that, this forum and the activity needs the positivity real fans like him bring!
  18. I was at Finals in 2008. Blue Devils had the design and energy to win, but seeing it live they seemed to have an uncharacteristic rough last couple of minutes in their performance. Brass and percussion both. They were a little sharper than Phantom Regiment visually that night, but not musically. Both shows had lots of GE.
  19. Takes a lot of work from design through performance to move up even one spot a year. Mandarins are having a tremendous year and even if they end up only three spots higher than last year that is a huge accomplishment and a sign of things to come. Even if they get 7th they are 5th place quality. Same for Cadets and Regiment, but this is more of a break out year for Mandarins. They are the big story.
  20. Here's to Hook'emCavies and his boys in green having a great night!
  21. Don't assume they are behind Mandarins or Cadets until it's same night, same judges, same show.
