  4. This "Championship Series" is all but wrapped up. As we know, as the season progresses the point spreads get smaller. 1.35 is a HUGE gap to make up in 6 shows. For argument sake if BD or Cadets were to beat Crown in all of the remaining TOC shows by .2 Crown will still win the Series.

    Standings

    Crown = 0

    BD = -1.35

    Cadets = -1.55

    SCV = -3.10

    PR = -4.70

    Coats = -6.95

    Cavs = -7.15

  5. From the very start of the show, it was clear the corps was continuing on its path of defying convention. The drum major took out a baton from behind his neck and then dropped it on the field; a spoof of Phantom Regiments drum major routine. A brief statement of the melody of Summertime (from Gershwins Porgy and Bess) kicked off the production, just as fans eyes were finally adjusting to the psychedelic pattern of the stretch pants the brass and percussion members were wearing.

    Yeah that was me! :tongue:

  6. Speaking fom experience, the "slow-walk" race was an opportunity for comic relief. Didn't really matter which corps it was, making fun of the situation, without being disrespectful, was what it was all about for me.

    On the west coast, SCV would be the ones to "slow-walk" the best. We would march right up to them, slow down....to a crawl. He would go slower. We'd come to a halt, then march backwards. Then RUN to the front, sit in the lawn chair then point as if to say "Hey, can you speed this up".

    The funny thing is this would change night after night. It was all in good fun.

  7. Would be better if it were "pick-n-pack". List items that can be included in a package and let the customer choose. Pack #1 can include up to 5 items, Pack #2 may contain up to 8 items.. etc. or a list of items with prices and put as little or as much as you want in the package. With incentives, 5 or more items includes a DCI key chain, 15 or more items includes a DCI tote bag.

    Really how many young ladies on tour are too concern with doing their nails?

  8. During this past winter, the board of directors for the VK Org. had decided to approve the return of the Velour Knights, VK Too & VK³ to the field of competition. But as the start of the season gets closer and closer, everyone involved realized that it is just not going to happen. At least not to the degree that we are accustom to.

    So with that the VK Org. will remain as an inactive organization for the time being, with plans to be on the field for season 20 of DCPI.

    Best of luck to all.

  9. The last I heard on this, and I don't remember the thread but it was on here and in mid-September or so, IIRC-is that they will use the audio with a black screen for the music from a certain song. Again, I don't recall exactly but I seem to remember that this came from quite a reliable source. I plan on making Madison the first viewing as soon as I can get the wrapping off.

    A better solution would have been to play the audio with a photo slide show from the performance. The audio and video aren't synced so there wouldn't be a problem with the rights. You still would get a sense of what was going on in the show.

  10. No offense, but I think you're missing the forest for the trees. The fact is people are going - and going in big numbers. Ticket sales for each of the past three years has been in excess of 37,000 for these. Those numbers are in the Montreal category.

    This format is drawing big. That's undeniable. What's unfathomable is this thinking that similar big crowds would want to buy tickets to see shows that not only couldn't place among their contemporaries but that also have failed to gain more than niche recognition since. I saw '94 VK live in 1994. They were fun. But there are better VK shows. Why would we expect either the new generation or the previous one to buy tickets to see a VK show that isn't legendary? That's not what the countdown is for*. That's what the Fan Network and DVDs are for.

    HH

    *Except as a footnote inside a broader program.

    You are quoting ticket sale stats from a different show. Quarter-Finals is different than the Classic Countdown

    Carry on

  11. I'm iffy on this one. If it were say 6, which double the normal changes, I'd say yes, but 8 is a total swap. Part of the game is learning how to play the game.

    As it stands I'm saying No... sorry Homie
