  1. Jason Baczynski, drummer for Texas Swing band “Asleep at the Wheel”, marched Cavaliers in 1999...So I've seen him on the field in 1999 and on stage in 2022.😆
  2. Jim Ott's arrangement for Spirit (79 & 80) was based on Count Basie' Sweet Georgina Brown and Bill Watrous's Sweet Georgina Upside Down Count Basie Bill Watrous (Listen to the section about 4 minutes in)
  3. Nice venue. I’ve attended this show off and on since 1982, and marched one show there in 1984. Best of luck to all tonight!
  4. I have a theory that I have kept bottled up for 30 years and probably never would have remembered had this thread not jogged my memory. 1984: I was a baritone player in Spirit of Atlanta. Near the end of our Whitewater finals performance I felt something hang on my foot near the end of our show - when I was in the area of the 35-40 yard line on the (audience’s) right side of the field. Glanced down and saw a piece of rope with a S hook* on it which I was able to kick off my foot and keep going. Leaving the field I momentarily thought “should I tell a judge?” but then it was hurry up and get off the field, etc... Later that night the Garfield incident happens and I thought, yeah I should have told someone. *Anyone remember the Florida Wave 1984 show? They had a visual section where they lowered horns and let them hang on a rope with a hook…
  5. One More Time, Chuck Corea (BD 81,82,83) > the original Singers Unlimited recording. Listening to the SU version you’d think that Wayne Downey / BD wrote the tune then Gene Puerling adapted it for SU
  6. I spent the afternoon at Spirit's rehearsal in Evansville on Wednesday then took in the show ...Looking (and sounding) good! Troopers and Madison were quite impressive also.
  7. I am just here waiting on score when I saw your sig. line and wanted to say...LET'S GO PEAY (I am APSU class of 1986)
  8. I have been a Trooper fan since way back (1978 is way back for me!) and I’ve gotta say I was seriously impressed and proud of their show and performance in Evansville. I easily had them scored above the other 3 and was a little worried they would give Spirit (my biased favorite ) a run for their money.
  9. The Troopers played very well, Nice show!
  10. Central...posting from Spirit's rehearsal sight
  11. Some info gathered from the Drums on the Ohio Facebook page today: The show starts at 7:00. Blue Stars (3rd corps) steps off at 8:04, Spirit (5th corps) steps off at 9:03. Spirit does the encore. (Central time zone)
  12. Speaking of DCW and preseason info...remember Trivial Ed's articles? He listed his phone number and invited you to call (which I did) and fill him in on – or get the scoop on – your favorite corps. “This has been trivial and you are not”
  13. I agree I like the way you think.
