questionably high amount of openings
bluecoats88 replied to Ashontheinternet's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
i believe this shows number of spots if every corps marched a completely full corps, and also only takes into account contracts signed, so even though it might show a corps with 8 horn spots or something those 8 people may already be there just not having signed a contract. -

Shows that surprised you and glad you saw live

I first saw Phantom 96 at Allentown, I was so drawn into that show that when they finished it felt like they'd only been on for like a couple minutes, I thought no way is it over they've barely been on the field. that show was so good it just felt short. -

Are Basslines respected in the Drumline community?
bluecoats88 replied to Matthew Hines's topic in Percussion Planet
yes, most of the other sections, Tenors and Snares don't understand how we are able to play all that split stuff, and they are impressed as hell by it. had one of the tenors I had marched with back in the 80's tell me in the 2022 bluecoats alumni corps that he doesn't know how we do that, referring to our splits and runs. -

Corps That Have Moved and Why?
bluecoats88 replied to Keith Hall's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I thought Madison helped Southwind out financially one year bringing them under their umbrella, and then Southwind bought themselves back out from under the next year or 2 later. -

a potential problem for stadiums everywhere....

it wouldn't affect the use of props, but it would stop the use of tarps, as they actually could damage a grass field -

I was looking through some stuff yesterday and realized that 3 new placement high scores were set in 2023. Boston's 4th place score is the highest 4th place score at DCI Finals Cavaliers 8th place score is the highest 8th place score at DCI Finals Blue Stars 11th place score is the highest 11th place score in DCI Finals

but I hope they keep what made them feel more like the Cavies this year. I felt the previous few years they had lost that Cavieness and this year got it back. They need to do what they do best and be the Cavaliers.

saw it live, know what I saw and heard. they do perform the hell out of what they are given, but random running (yes everyone runs some, but most do it in form), horn sections playing the hard part standing while the rest of the hornline moves playing simpler parts. I've seen them do it all, and say it this year as well. I loved when they were taking risks, doing things noone else was doing, most hated the absurdity and glass darkly shows, but I loved them cause they were doing new and exciting things. now their shows bore me cause it's a lot of nothing. take a risk, try something new, experiment with multi meters while moving. something to excite the crowd other then two different color sleeves so you can hold one up then the other and wow what a cool color change.

Blue Devils 2024 right before the storm
bluecoats88 replied to theonlyfizzle's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
exactly, and they have done that in the past with the absurdity show, the through the glass darkly show, with filiniesque. they have it in themselves to do something different, interesting, and challenging but they decide to do a variation of the same thing over and over with all the same tropes that they've done for years. take a chance, do something different and unexpected, make the crowd excited and wowed.
