  1. but I hope they keep what made them feel more like the Cavies this year. I felt the previous few years they had lost that Cavieness and this year got it back. They need to do what they do best and be the Cavaliers.
  2. saw it live, know what I saw and heard. they do perform the hell out of what they are given, but random running (yes everyone runs some, but most do it in form), horn sections playing the hard part standing while the rest of the hornline moves playing simpler parts. I've seen them do it all, and say it this year as well. I loved when they were taking risks, doing things noone else was doing, most hated the absurdity and glass darkly shows, but I loved them cause they were doing new and exciting things. now their shows bore me cause it's a lot of nothing. take a risk, try something new, experiment with multi meters while moving. something to excite the crowd other then two different color sleeves so you can hold one up then the other and wow what a cool color change.
  3. exactly, and they have done that in the past with the absurdity show, the through the glass darkly show, with filiniesque. they have it in themselves to do something different, interesting, and challenging but they decide to do a variation of the same thing over and over with all the same tropes that they've done for years. take a chance, do something different and unexpected, make the crowd excited and wowed.
  4. and hey this year we did take a trick out of BD's drill design with the large tight form in the ballad moving as one forward across the field to emphasise the music, just like BD does every year and gets so much credit for. We did itand showed its not that hard to do.
  5. so only march while playing whole and half notes, stand still while playing difficult sections of music, if you are moving while playing something more than whole and half notes, then make sure it is in half time, and if all else fails run somewhere in a random blob as opposed to holding any type of form during the movement. Yeah no thanks, I would rather watch my corps challenge it's members with multimetered music while moving and being completely innovative and unique, and still pulling it all off at as high a level as the corps that does have of what we are doing.
  6. of course it is a three peat, they've won the last three championships, thus a three peat. Also, The Bluecoats have placed 2nd three in a row as well. Although Bluecoats did perform a show in 2021, since it wasn't a competetive year it really can't be in the mix.
  7. i would love for them to do something challenging and unique, push the activity forward and not just sit back on their laurels. Try something new and innovative, take a risk.
  8. no scores yet, guessing they are now gonna do it at the end of the show instead of during the show
  9. so are they no longer doing scores during the show? One of the things I always enjoyed was getting the scores one at a time and seeing how each corps fell into the lineup, watching to see if someone's score would hold up to make it to the next nights show. waiting till the end for prelims and semi's kinda takes some of the fun out of it.
  10. Do they still have solo and ensemble on wednesday of finals week? if so, how can I find the results?
  11. nope, just march off, scores are announced sometime after you perform. used to be about 2 corps later, now they kinda do them in blocks of scores.
  12. half the corps couldn't perform due to thunderstorms
  13. hadn't thought of that. need to figure out a solution. definately need more food options inside the stadium
  14. would be nice if they could pull the food trucks into the stadium and line em up on the hill running from gate 1 to the top of the hill. would provide much more food options and you won't have to wait for over an hour for some crappy fries and chicken strips.
  15. people who think drum corps inxtructors are making large amounts of money are way off base.
  16. whoever earns 12th will have beaten SCV this year and thus earned that spot. it isn't their fault SCV chose not to compete. it's the same as if all of SCV's staff just up and quit and the corps limped into the season with a halfass show and were terrible and got beaten by those corps. other corps circumstances do not lessen another corps accomplishments.
  17. it's not so much that people want them to change their designs, it is that I think people feel that they get more credit then they deserve for doing the same or less than other corps and people just feel they are getting rewarded for all their past championships instead of being judged on the performance on the field. I loved BD during the time most people complained about them. Dada, the mirrors, ubsurdity, felini, and their storybook show in 2015. I was all, stop hating they had the best product on the field and they performed the hell out of it. but other years, I felt that their show wasn't quite as good as their past shows and yet they were still getting these incredibly high nnumbers. Every corps has an off year , but it seems like the judges just never see it when BD doesn't quite have the show and they are still giving them high numbers even though it doesn't seem like they have the best show. It isn't about specific moves, or park and bark, it is about the overall show just not feeling like it should be on top every year. BD does what they do incredibly well and always has, but even back in the 80's and 90s the judges would see that they just didn't quite have it in some years and they would be beaten by others, it just seems now the judges aren't aware that the emporer is naked, and they are still praising him for his well tailored suits.
  18. to be honest though 90 had a very jazzy arrangement of pinball wizard right in the middle of the show.
  19. did you ever see phantom in 2005? all gershwin, who is an american jazz composer.
  20. Drum Corps stopped using true bugles as soon as they added the first valve. I'm tired of hearing that old not bugles anymore argument. the horns they use today are better quality and allow the corps to play better in tune and the blend is so much better that it allowed smaller corps to improve their sound quality enough to start moving up the ranks.
  21. bluecoats do this with shirts and member jackets, they gat passed down to the corps members, and the jackets get passed down in individual sections when the member that had it ages out. not sure about the shirts, they just might be kept by the member that gets them.
