  1. yet neither has beaten them in a head to head match up at the same show, the scores for BDB and SCVC rose significantly at their last two shows because they were open class only shows and the judges didn't need to leave room for the world class corps coming on later that evening so the top scores were able to be opened up more than normal if there had been competition above them
  2. Actually Fred had previously worked with the Bluecoats in the late 80's early nineties in many capacities including cymbal and bass tech in different years.
  3. they could find themselves in 11th and 12th with crossmen out, or maybe we see 13 corps in finals with a 12th place tie in Semis
  4. Jersey Surf is doing almost that this year, and it is more fitting since the 4 seasons were from Jersey
  5. I understand it is hot, but I lived though the 1988 season and we wore double breasted wool uniforms, so I'm not sympathetic to today's members who get to wear short sleeve tops and lightweight outfits.
  6. I thought the official pit area was started in 1982, prior to that everyone was still marching keyboards and some corps were grounding their tympani, but they were still on the field.
  7. Parity is hard, even in Major League Baseball, you have a team with arguably 2 of the best players in the League in Trout and Ohtani, and yet the Angels never even find a way to make the playoffs let alone win it all.
  8. Actually We did the first 2 pieces from our Alumni show which consists of 5 pieces all together. We just split the second piece into 2 parts because we haven't worked out the tempo change into the third part of that tune.
  9. who wants to sit through a show when the order is Phantom, BD, mandarins, SCV, Bluecoats, crossmen, Jersey Surf? I would feel bad for Crossmen and surf having to follow two of the top 3 corps and not competing next to their competition
  10. What he actually said was in these early shows they aren't worried so much about getting an accurate number, ie. cavies are .5 ahead of Phantom in field percussion, but what they are trying to get correct is the order, ie. cavies field percussion was better than PRs as an example. so spreads and such aren't that meaningful in the early shows, as long as the corps are in the correct order of placement based on their performances.
  11. so can A class corps make open finals then?
  12. I am confused why some of the open corps have to go on before some of the Class A corps. doesn't seem fair to the Open corps who are competing with corps that go on after there is a two corps gap.
  13. the placement could also be due to the design being simplistic and the performance of it being sloppy, but I guess it could be the fact they didn't have props that made their scores so low.
  14. from what I heard during the G7 period there was a lot of sharing of ideas and knowledge between the 7 corps, and although the G7 has gone away that sharing has continued and expanded down to the other corps as well. This has helped a number of corps learn better and more efficient ways of doing things and thus helping them get better. Making the whole of DCI better.
  15. it was the same as the one when bluecoats beat them. qtr finals when they dropped from 2nd to 4th. you note it in the bluecoats beating them but not in the cadets stats
  16. you should note one of Cadets 2015 wins over BD was also due to the Penalty.
  17. I will rank them, but since I never got to see Babylon live it doesn't do so well in the rankings 1. Down side Up 2. Spartacus 3. Angels and Demons 4. Babylon 5. E=MC^2
  18. 1. Bluecoats 2. Blue Devils 3. Mandarins 4. Phantom 5. Boston 6. Cavaliers 7. Crown 8. SCV 9. Blue Stars 10. Cadets 11. Blue Knights 12. Crossmen
  19. I bought a sweatshirt from SCV cause they were the only ones who still had any available in 92
  20. it also helps a weaker line who can focus their rehearsal time on the parts when they are upfront and hide the dirt when they are farther backfield
  21. All patterns break, for their first 10 years in finals Bluecoats repeated their placement every two years, 11,11,8,8,11,11,9,9,7,7 then the pattern broke in 98 when they finished 12th after an 11th place finish the year before.
