  1. Disagree with the op. No one is obligated to cheer /give a standing o out of politeness. I cheer for performances that move me. Rather than calling those who don’t cheer rude maybe reflect on why they aren’t cheering. I know a fair number of folks who respect the skill of BD members but who don’t click with BD’s shows. I’m one of them. I evidently don’t have a lot of shared aesthetic sensibilities with BD’s design staff. They obviously click with a lot of folks so good for them. But when I don’t clap it’s not out of disrespect or sour grapes it’s because I’m not moved
  2. Bluecoats 22 sound guy. Discussion of brass amplification at 2:23
  3. No idea. It just seemed disjointed and not well connected to what comes before it
  4. Hey it sounds like the brass line is having a true old school experience this summer. Get out and push!
  5. Gonna give this thread a little bump because I’m digging the Colts this year too. Just a straight up entertaining show. I have a second reason for posting. I have 4 tickets to the Olathe show on Monday (VIP section with parking) that I can’t use because I’m getting over COVID. Would love to see someone use these. I live in KC MO but would be willing to drive a bit to meet for an exchange. PM me if interested. I’ll also post on the Brass Impact thread when that goes up.
  6. Was that a random pa test tone in the mix at the end of the closer or is my phone making noises?
  7. Great thread. GE has always been a mystery to me yet it is such a big determinant of scores. Of the responses so far, this one makes the most sense to me. Given this definition I think GE judges should be required to "sample" audience reactions (literally look at the faces of audience members at multiple points throughout the show). 😉
  8. lol, saw the thread title and the date of the original post and was certain I must have posted on this thread in the past. But no. I'm right there with you OP. I love drum corps from all eras, but there's something about that show that gets to me. Literally get teary every time I listen to it. To top it off, one my favorite live show memories of all times was from that show. Crossmen beat SCV that year I believe for the first time in Xmen's history. Out of respect, they turned to SCV and played their retreat song. As if this wasn't nostalgia enough, I dig the references to Fan Network in the original post. 😃
  9. One of my favorite memories of all time was when SCV played their retreat song. Instead of playing towards the stands, they turned and played to the Crossmen who had beaten them. Crossmen went nuts. Total class. And it made me realize what a brotherhood/sisterhood drum corps is.
  10. I noticed at the Madison show this Saturday that the announcer repeatedly mentioned the Fan Network. I suspect that DCI provides boilerplate text to be read as announcements at shows. I think the text needs to be updated. I'm no business genious but directing people to a service that is unavailable, seems suboptimal.
