  1. I don't really know if this is already a thread (I start basically every thread saying that LOL), but it's a bit upsetting to me that corps are splitting into abstract vs clear. There's a lot of shows this year that had CLEAR character-driven shows (BOOM, Observer Effect, Spectator Sport, Crosswalking, Demon Barber of Fleet Street) and even more that were just conceptual (aVANte GUARD, If I Must Fall..., Variations on a Gathering, Point of No Return, Phantom Regiment). I know a lot of innovative shows were conceptual (Tilt, Babylon, etc) but trying to recreate that magic just makes everything seem the same. I just wish more corps would focus on the character building of the story rather than seeming artsy.
  2. 2016 Cavaliers or 2023 Mandarins. I'm VERY biased to modern dci lol
  3. I'm hoping they do something kind of conceptual (?) again like they've done in the past. A lot of their shows have had just one concept and stuck to it (Mad World and the whole rifle thing, Propaganda with propaganda, Shape/Shift with forms and manipulating them in sick ways) and I love when they commit to one theme. I wish they wouldn't be afraid to get cute with it (like 2012 may get made fun of sometimes, but I just think it's so cute as a theme) and just do something fun!! Drum corps doesn't have to be super serious ALL the time!!
  4. LOL Yeah I realized in late 2024-ish (I think the night after finals) that I didn't just want to be a fan but I wanted to march with them!! I almost didn't audition for Eclipse because I thought they'd never contract me but I got in and now I'm gonna be marching until my age out 🙂
  5. DCI Finals, 2023!! My sister had been pushing me to go with her since ~2018 (since it was so close and she wanted to do drum corps one day), but as a kid I was really noise-sensitive and only got over it in 2022. I remember cheering for everyone but cheering for Mandarins the loudest. From then on I've been completely dedicated to it! Wouldn't trade drum corps for the world
  6. I've said this for a while, but it's probably the most evil thing to ever be proposed in DCI. I couldn't imagine completely shutting down Open Class except for the nepo babies of World. Maybe it's my perspective from marching a SoundSport group, but almost everybody I've met in SoundSport/Open are talents that World would fiend for, and eliminating support would almost definitely mean that those talents never do corps in general
  7. Going to watch their rehearsal after school today! Excited to hear it for the first time!!!
  8. Plus a bit of insider knowledge- due to bus issues Eclipse didn’t get to rehearse at the site, so that was a cold run LOL
  9. Eclipse is a REALLY great corps (even if I’m a little biased), we have some talents who I have to imagine are going to top 10 corps very very soon. Like all of our baritone trio is still in high school (and one in 8th grade I’m pretty sure), it’s just a really promising group to be a part of! And the whole corps feels like a family I’m really hoping we go far 💙🌌
  10. LOL Yes we are! We’re really small, all of us fit under the shadow of our truck rn 😭😭
  11. I AM!! This is my first time being on Flo so I immediately went to check DCP to see if people liked us haha
  12. Hi I march Eclipse!! The majority of us are high schoolers (or freshly college LOL) so having two DMs rather than one has been really helpful with keeping time
  13. Yep!! We’re hoping to go OC within a few years. We’re super excited
  14. All I'm hoping is for a fantastic Cavs show and Mandies to place 5+ 🥹
  15. Hey y'all! Not super sure if this is the right section of the forums, but whatever. I've been super interested in the Sault St. Marie Bandettes recently, but I can really only find one full performance from 2001. I'm incredibly captivated by their playing and want to see more of their work. Any ideas / resources for finding full shows? Thank you!!
  16. My apologies!! Thread was a spur of the moment thing, pretty sure I actually commented on your question LOL
  17. I find you can have simplicity in concept & still have a really thought-provoking show. Take Propaganda- its concept is literally propaganda, but it took the idea and went above and beyond. I also just don't have that much of an issue with complicated show ideas, like Sinnerman is complex but came across so well!
  18. Don’t even get me STARTED on Sinnerman!! It’s the show to convince me to devote my life to drum corps. First ever DCI event I’d been to, and I was so entranced I started crying like a baby!!
  19. FRAGILE!!! One of those shows I do tear up at, especially when I think about being in the middle of all that sound. I cry like a baby whenever I watch recordings of soloists in DCI, it feels so special and I can't wait to feel that one day!!
  20. I really want to ask this because I feel a bit silly for the way I react to DCI. Consistently, every time I listen to a few certain shows (or watch a few specific runs), I can’t help myself and I start crying. For example, I can’t listen to the solos of BK19 or the ballad of Mandies ‘24 without sobbing like a baby, and I started crying in my history class while watching a BD victory lap. Does anyone else have these strong emotional reactions? I figure it’s just out of love for marching arts, but I can’t help it from happening.
  21. BK ‘19!!! ABSOLUTELY!!! One of the best shows I’ve heard in a LONG time
  22. Mandies ‘24 is RIGHT, first time i heard that ballad i started tearing up and it still gets me so emotional!!!
  23. Thank you so much!!! I got contracted yesterday so this will be my first tour season ever !!!
  24. Originally I’d listened to the show for some little project I was doing, but that first hit and the solo around 9 or so minutes in made me so emotional!! I come back to it all the time, especially since I’m preparing for my first ever audition right now it’s a really vulnerable show and I LOVE IT
  25. I’m not sure if they would’ve deserved to win, BUT shows I think should’ve placed higher are Crossmen 2012 (obviously) and Blue Knights 2019. BK19 makes me sob like a baby everytime I listen to it in all honesty, solo is just so beautiful!!!
