  1. I have no idea what this post is trying to say.... Anyways, people come to this thread hoping to read new staff updates. You're free to say whatever you're saying, but it'd be awesome if you shared it in a relevant thread. It's frustrating seeing a new comment has been posted here only for it, yet again, to contain zero staff updates. (Yes, I understand the irony of me commenting right now without sharing any staff updates.)
  2. Yes, they flew to Boston in early July of 2015, performing at the DCI show at Gillette Stadium, as well as at Tanglewood with the Boston Pops Orchesra (along with the Boston Crusaders).
  3. High cam for a first read, multicam on a second read (just for enough time to see the uniforms/silks/props etc up close), high cam the rest of the season. You miss SO MUCH with multicam.
  4. I want to say at least half of Boston 2017’s guard were Crown vets. There were so many that there was a Crown vet guard captain and a non-Crown vet guard captain.
  5. Lindsey is returning for year two as visual designer but starting year one as caption head (yes, she's doing both roles). She will be replacing Anthony Clark, who has been caption head the past few summers.
  6. Cannot BELIEVE how strong this version of the Seattle Cascades is..... WOW!!! By far the most intentional design/coordination they've had in years, as well as great fundamentals from the educational staff. Brass sounded and LOOKED great. Major props to the entire organization.
  7. Groups doing the West Coast tour would've had to travel 1400 miles from Pasadena Saturday night to Broken Arrow tonight. That'd mean three consecutive nights of 8-12 hour drives (and probably skipping The Academy's home show on Sunday) in order to make that happen... No one wants to make that kind of sprint, especially after all the extended drives they've already done between West Coast shows. (For those who've never done a West Coast tour, at least the kind that've existed in the last 10-20 years: these shows are wayyyy farther apart than the shows on a typical Midwest or even East Coast tour. That means longer bus rides and shorter rehearsal days, especially for groups doing the Pacific Northwest tour and/or groups like the Cascades or The Academy that step-off earlier at competitions.)

  9. Clearing the 50 offers a perfect stage for visual events (eg, a soloist) to do something front and center. Of course, it might be a greater advantage to instead park one conductor on the 50 so you can give the other conductor an instrument. It all depends on the students you have and the show you're designing.
  10. Totally besides your point, but Ryan George joined Boston in 2012, not 2009.
