  1. My choice for rotation is Chicago, then Chicago, Buffalo, Denver, Chicago and Chicago
  2. 1987 US Open...Phantom Regiment beat the Blue Devils to win after finishing 10th at finals the year before. The US Open was the week before finals. They (PR)were 3rd after semi finals in Madison but dropped to 5th on finals night. Robert
  3. Phantom Regiment's Pat Seidling played drums. don't know which ones. Robert
  4. Phantom Regiment had kids from Japan, Great Britan and Holland this year. John Owen (aka Gene Kelly) speaks Japanese so he was a great help this year in more ways than one. Robert
  5. I believe the Phantom Regiment, and especially it's Program Coordinator, Dan Ferrill and it's Program Advisor, Dr. Dan Richardson, will not break with tradition without a reason. Both gentlemen go back a long, long time with the Phantom Regiment. I would suggest that they would argue more vehemently for the preservation of the Phantom Regiment's traditions more loudly than anyone. But, not at the expense of the overall quality of the program chosen for their 50th Anniversay Season! The addition of John Owen this year, as the Gene Kelly character, was simply done to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the overall program performed by the Phantom Regiment. If the colorguard is co-ed in 2006 because the program will be better served by the inclusion of male guard members, then so be it. I certainly am in no position to doubt their judgement on anything after the seeing the evolution of their "Rhapsody" show this season. Robert
  6. The new Soldier Field in Chicago! Easilly the nicest and cleanest large city in the US. Grant park is just across Lake Shore Drive for all the corps to warm up in. Nice cool lake breeze! Awesome bars, restaurants and hotels in all price ranges. Cheap area transportation. Great museums and points of interest to keep you entertained outside the stadium for weeks. Division II and III could be held at Nothwestern Universities Dyke Stadium. CHICAGO! CHICAGO! CHICAGO!
  7. 18? I really doubt that. But, I have to say that I really don't know his age. At his first camp in April this year, he told me he had marched 2 years with Carolina Crown and then took a year off. He then marched a year at SCV under Adam Sage and for the last year and a half he had been doing a Disney Show in Japan. He would have to have been very, very young to start marching at Carolina for him to be only 18 now. Robert
  8. I had wondered why the staff greatly reduced the excitement and content of John's performance during quarter finals, only to find out later in the evening he had 20 stitches in his hand and had spent a long time in the emergency room that day. He did a great job all 3 nights and added more to his perforemance at semifinals and still more at finals. I spoke to him at the corps busses after finals. While I thought he did an exceptional job, he was very dissappointed he had to perform a watered down routine for the audience because of the injury. John is a real trooper and at other times he was quite sick this season, he never missed a minute of rehearsal! By the way, he's one of the nicest kids you'd ever want to meet. Robert
  9. I had to vote for Phantom Regiment...the show is pure entertainment at it's drum corps best! Robert
  10. 2005 Phantom Regiment...you are the BOMB!!!!! In the 21 years I have volunteered as a cook, driver and souvie guy, I have met and been inspired by the most wonderful young men and women anyone could ever hope to meet. My life has been fulfilled by all of you in ways I could have never dreamt possible. At Dress Rehearsal, your cards, hugs and best wishes meant more to me than you can ever know. The T-shirt many of you signed for me and gave me at the Des Plaines show is the shirt I am wearing for Finals Night! I'm just thrilled that my doctor is allowing me to come to Championships!! You have made me so proud. I love you all! Go for it all! You deserve it! SUTA!! Robert
  11. Thnaks for posting these reviews of Friday and Saturday in Allentown. I loved reading your opinions and perspectives! I especially appreciated your review and critique of the Blue Devil's show. I now have a much better perspective from which to view their 2005 program in Foxboro. Thank you...very well done!! Robert
  12. The answer is simple...Debbie Torchia!! She totally dumped Regiment in visual in Casper and Colorguard the next night in Denver. Don't worry about it, from what I've heard, last night was her last night of judging this year. Carolina Crown's guard ROCKS!!!!!!! Robert
