So Mandarins' score was good enough to put them in 5th overall of all scores tonight, which puts them in the 4-6 draw group for San Antonio. It's possible (though unlikely) that they could perform AFTER Crown (unless they've changed how they're determining performance order for SA this year).

Further, this year the Mandarins have a pretty balanced strength across all three sections, as opposed to the past where color guard/visual was a particular strength but brass and percussion were among the bottom tier in the Top 12.

What makes BD powerful is their ability to make something difficult look easy.

That’s what this weekend’s SoCal shows essentially are. Tomorrow’s show in Vista is treated as a semifinals (performance order based on Friday’s Riverside results) and Sunday’s Duarte show is treated as finals (performance order based on Saturday show’s results). And Flo is actually broadcasting Sunday’s Duarte show, which makes it feel that much more special as a finals experience for those corps.

Several of them (like BDB, Golden Empire and Impulse) *have* traveled to Indy in the past. But this year, I believe Gold is the only one of the entire pack who is going.
