I have to take a couple months off from playing timpani because of school..honestly, I dont know when Ill be able to sit behind those drums again. I was curious if any one has any advice of building up pitch knowledge..what notes are what when heard..sharp/flat...up till now Ive always used a tuner, which isnt bad!, but i figure If I cant be activly playing I can do something to help myself out. I wasnt sure where to put this post...in the percussion area?...but I figure brass players would be able to help me out more....in the brass area?..the topic is percussion, not brass... so I came here! One instructor I had, Matt Armstrong (BD timpanist..dont remember what year) told me a great way to build pitch was to sing to the radio...uhm...Ive been blasting showtunes and singing to em since I was 12!! =0) But any sort of advice, program, website, whatever would be very appreciated!!

the color guard only did one little "slide step" (or whatever you wanna call it) of it and the very end of their New Era chant. You can hear the crowd give a little cheer from those that picked up on the little throwback. they dont play the bottle dance music though :P I was told, dont remember by who, that every year after 92 the gaurd somehow put a little bit of choreography of the bottle dance into their show to comemerate <sp?!> the fiddler show.... i take it by the discussion of years they have lil snidbits that its not true??

Im sitting here listening to the SCV 92 show...and I just realized I have never seen the infamous "bottle dance". Does anyone know where I could find a clip??? #### the entire show would be awesome too b**bs

that is definatly something that corps should invest in.....Im moving away for college in a couple weeks and Id love to be sporting posters from my favorite corps in my new home If anyone DOES find anything, make sure to post it!

On a side note....yech, that movie was abolutely horrible to watch, I couldnt quit cringing at the dirt ampssuck
