I completely get you. It was a humorous (I hope) observation that the sky is not falling. I understand there were people back in the day who opposed the same move by the Cadets. Nevertheless, tell those Cadet boys to shave! I had to, so they should too!! -
Last night I saw the video from the Cadets' home show. I was stunned. I mean, I've been following the numbers, so I knew the judged reaction, but I was not prepared. I saw it live in Detroit and then again in Cincinnati. I was impressed with the improvement, but from Cincinnati to the home show is just incredible. This is a wonderful drum corps! I may just have homer colored glasses, but I am convinced that with a change to the drill for the last minute, this is a top 6 drum corps. The beginning is so much clearer (and cleaner). The music on the last minute calls for more velocity. They are indeed trucking, but it doesn't read that way because if how it's written. I know a minute is a lot of drill, but if they can create that velocity with contrary motion, this is a fantastic show. Crown's ending is a great example of that. BD also has many good examples of creating velocity without running and gunning (not to deny the actual real gunning they are doing). Anyway, I hope they can do that, because this is clearly a special corps.

As has been pointed out many times, Cadets do something, and then others follow. Example, Cadets go coed 50 years ago, and Madison rides their coattails.... 😂

As an alumnus, I am furious that my corps made the decision to go coed, and I demand that they immediately reverse that decision. If course, that was 50 years ago, and the corps was the Garfield Cadets. 😂- 603 replies

I agree. That was wonderful. And no matter what anyone thinks about the costume, I would definitely have preferred wearing that when we did those three parades on July 4 in 88! But seriously.....shave. 🦆

Time to bring Donnie in for a couple weeks...

I agree. It's not an insult. Just an observation. Designers are like composers. They quote themselves.

Yup. My friends and I have made that exact comparison. Of course, it does make sense.

Believe me, I'm not saying "probability". Just "possibility". There's also the possibility of a couple moving ahead of them as well. I just know some of those people, and I believe it's within the realm of possibilities to get it done. -

I can actually now see the possibility of Cadets back in the top 6! -

I would have agreed an hour ago. I know I'm listening on the internet and trying to compare with Crown live. Nevertheless, I was so impressed just now. Of course, Crown does it while running and gunning, so there's that. -

Of course, I'm just glad there is an encore. -

So, there's this thing called a dance belt. Just in case any drum corps needs it... -
Drum Corps in the year 2040

Kids will get lots more sleep as driving distances will be much shorter. Also, a really good beach day in Columbus, Ohio and Phoenix, Arizona. -

I legitimately thought it was a typo when I first saw it yesterday. Whoever coined it is a genkus! -
Crossmen beat Cadets in 91 at a mid season show. I was there, but I'm not sure if it was Ypsilanti or Nashville. Anyway, Crossmen did a great Pat Metheny show, and it was early enough that a young and dirty Cadets still didn't have it together. But they turned it around.

That's true. I just think there's a way to merge the old and the new. Perhaps a rotation for encores. Idunno. -

I just hate that there is no longer a reason to stick for numbers. I understand the rationale, so need to rehash all that. But back in the day, part of the show was retreat and an encore. I miss that.
