so musically if you had to compare this crown show to a previous crown show what previous year would it be the most like?
It would be difficult to do.
1. The source material is so diverse and much of it is from genres that Crown really hasn’t explored in the past. I think it will pay off for them!
2. The percussion / electronic / brass integration is on a level we have never seen from Crown. The brass is amazing - but all the sections are performing at the brass line level and the book was written to feature this. It is a very cohesive musical design.
3. The show has a well defined story arc. It’s not a concept anyone is going to struggle to grasp. That is a good thing.
If you liked “Inferno” you will be very happy with the vibe of this show - which is going to be on a whole new level in every aspect.

Saw the run through last night of parts 1-4. I don’t want to give too much detail but I can say that this is the show that Crown was destined to put on the field! It’s epic story telling - dark and powerful. I am really liking the integration of all elements. Yes there are props - still a work in progress but I think they will be the best use of props that crown has ever had. It would be pointless to make competitive speculation so I won’t even try. I just know that I am really going to enjoy watching this show mature over the summer!

Does the ensemble really benefit from their presence? I guess those questions are pretty much rhetorical since cymbal lines are disappearing from drum corps.
