  1. WOW what a great review. I love having so many reviews to read even though I was at the movies too b**bs
  2. This was such a fantastic opportunity I had a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would agree with Fran on everything except I had Glassman over Spirit but it was hard to decide they were both great along with BK. I was excited to see Cavies and I loved it more than I even thought I would. Everyone was great and the theater was so much fun. Chesapeake VA had fillled the first theater when I got there and they had already opened the second. Considering I was one of the first to buy a ticket I was glad to get such a good seat. The crowd showed much love for Crown and I was happy to see it. Very proud that I got to see my corps break 90 in person (well sorta) THANK YOU DCI & REGAL CINIMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! very tired it is almost 3:00 so I hope this made sence!
  3. Thanks for such a good review. I am glad you stayed for Crown. I heard the show over the phone and at times especialy after the poetry the cheering was so loud I could not hear. There was laughing at one part of the poetry too (something he said). I am sorry you dislike it so much but I am glad you liked the rest. Thanks for your open and honest oppinion of the show. Great job, B~
  4. Yes I think I understand exactly what you are saying. Heck I work with teenagers all day and some of them think I am just an old f--t who is lucky to find my way to school everyday (and I am only 41)! As you said some kids are just after the ring and I have seen this. Andrew (my son in Crown) started with crown last year, the year after they had such a ruff time of it and he saw how many abandoned the corps for one they could "WIN" with. The few who stayed behinde were very devoted and Andrew was inspired by that and really respected that attitude. So we as a family became devoted to Crown and that is how he has also learned to be so interested in drum corps history. I come to this section to hear all your stories and learn a little too. I love it even though I rarely know what I am talking about! Sometimes I wish I had been a musician and marched too. I spent my youth behind a canvas and much of my adult time too. Which is really a good place for me. It would be great to meet some of you some time! Oh and what is "ducing"? Have a great season B)
  5. For what it is worth I hope the older drum corps population does not think that all the new people do not care. WE DO! My son first introduced me to dc three years ago and we have learned so much which is still only a drop in the bucket! I and my sone still have a ton to learn but we try. It would be impossible for us to truly understand because we were not there. I am an artist and an art teacher so I know the importance of history. My son spends a lot of time reading about the history of drum corps. I think (at least I hope) we are not the only ones. You all are apart of history AND the present. I hate to think that some of you think kids don't care about that or are aware of it. It just takes time to learn it all and even then they will never understand all of it. I hope you don't mind me sticking my nose in this conversation. I usually lurk around in here as a guest. Some of what a few of you said just made me sad. B~
  6. Thanks for your thoughts AND your support. I was on the phone with my son last night as the scores were being read and they were all very happy. Crown has heard so many good things about their show and has had so much support from fans like you! Thanks!!! I am printing this review right now to put in his care package. I am sure he will share it with others. Have a great season B~
  7. Thanks for the review, late is always better than never! You had a lot to say about all the corps. Great Job!
  8. i would have to agree completely with radiosteele... star 938 may be in my mind one of the greatest dci shows ever done and theres no plausible reason they should have ever been put in 2nd that year
  9. Where I was sitting, there was this couple behind me that reminded me of the Costanzas from Seinfeld. They were really annoying people, talking during corps' shows (that REALLY ###### me off. I glared at them, but they didn't take the hint). Anyway, seeming to be long time fans, the following conversation took place immediately before the Bluecoats' performance: Mrs. Costanza: What's that thing they're doing? What're they doing? Mr. Costanza: They're "Booing." Me: <look of shock> After the performance: Mr. Costanza: Like I told you, they're "Blooing." Mrs. Costanza: Oh. It amazes me that people could be so clueless. They're the Blue coats! What do you think they're doing? Booing or Blooing? Frickin' idiots. The very first time I ever saw a show the Bluecoats were there. When the Bluuuuuuing started for a shocking second I thought the crowd was Booooing! I could not believe a crowd would be this rude so i listened real hard and then figured they were Bluuuuing (ya got to admit a thaousand people bluuuing does sound like boooing). I leaned to my husband and said (quietly) they are Bluuuing aren't they and he noded his hear yes! It is just kind of a shock when you first hear it and no one has warned you! Don't be to hard on the ignorance of newbees. You should have told them what was happening so they would understand and not think drum corps fans would be so rude. Great review! Thanks
  10. Very nice review. I too am following my sons tour through other peoples eyes. Isn't internet great
