  1. Much like the Troopers cavalry styled uniforms, Bayonne's Hats and yellow Coats, and of course the kilts with my beloved Kilties.. The renegades uniform set them apart, and was part of their identity, and frankly, was a part of their coolness. There in fact a desperate need to get back to that classic identity.
  2. or somone able to find commercial sponsors.. of course, presenting shows that that more people will find interesting to watch is key. 10 individual shows that would attract new fans? Did you see the Ohio State show? pretty kick ###. The reality is, that if you put out a product that folks will want to watch.. that the general public will say. " Hey, that's pretty cool" some mor epeople will be willing to pay to see it. And if you can even get a little of that interest in the general public, you might be able to convince an even greater number of folks to be willing to watch it on TV.. or online.. but TV is better. or both if you can.. And if you can convince people to watch ... then folks willwant to sponser it.. We need a sponsorship by Miller, or Anheusier Bush. Maybe a geek specialty channel like G4.
  3. What would it take to get a few bigger shows, and Prelims/ Finals on TV? Not the ESPN BS that DCI did, but straight up? Or online even? Realistically it needs to get in more eyes and ears , to make butts want to get into seats. DCI is having the shrinkage problem too..
  4. Hey Carolina Gold! I am looking for a good music store in Greensboro that offers guitar lessons. Best would be if their teachers have a degree.( looking for good teachers, not just the kid down the street who knows 3 chords to show ya) It's for my cousins son who is like 10. Any suggestions?
  5. Stomp in peace my friend. You will be missed and remembered fondly.
  6. I have a customer looking for decent quality standard, no valve bugles for a boyscout group. Anyone have any ideas? ( Key of G please) thanks!
  7. Isn't it just possible that some of the mistakes made in the first nights show, were corrected in rehearsal before the next days show? I know i corrected a missed horns down, amongst other things, and my knee did not do the "pop and crunch" that it did the first night which caused a bit of a stumble. If a good number of the corps all chose one thing from the night before and made sure they did that better, a 2 point jump is the least you could hope for. these scores dont reflect potential.. just what we do with it on the field. that can change from night to night. That dosent de- legitimize the scores.
  8. I am once again forced to point out... I hate math. You should too. and Rich stomps them.
  9. I think you should go with this feeling Lee. It would be wrong to deny it. Might cause further psychological damage.
  10. Im gonna guess that given the number of Sousy haters, not alot of brass band fans here. It's sad really. Maybe check out Nat McIntosh, especially his work with Youngblood Brass Band. other bands worth checking out: Mama Digdown, Soul Rebels, Rebirth, New Birth, Dirty Dozen, Hot 8, Inner City All Stars, Critical Brass, Jack, Stooges Music Group, and Free Agents.
  11. Illinois State University "Big Red Marching Machine" in the '90's when Dan Ferris was running it. Pretty much all of our field shows were recycled drumcorps stuff.
  12. Some added info.. As mentioned the "conversion kit" for the k-90 isnt really made for it.. its made for the Olds ultra tone Piston/rotor horns. I ended up scraping my plans to convert my K-90 and just get it cleaned up becasue of the risk of screwing up the tone quality inherent in fooling with the bore sizes.. there is a way to do it i hear without those problems, using spare K-90 parts, and new tubing, but that entails getting those parts.( somthing i may look into in the future) Also, the Dynasty/DEG horns are no longer made by Wilson. As a dealer, I learned a year or so ago that those are now made by Weril in Brazil, like the rest of the Dynasty brass. I have had mixed experiences with the DEG horns over the years, generally actually liking the older ones a bit better. just a bit of info i have picked up along the way.
