  1. Hurricanes - 1967: Dream, AL Nats, DCA :-)
  2. From what I remember while attending a few games in Houston when my daughter lived there, was the drumline appeared near the main gate during pre-game, then paraded up the ramps to their "game time" section stopping along the way to jam with the crowd, played typical beat "cheers" during the game, was not part of the halftime show and then jammed again exiting with the crowd after the game ... I also seem to remember drum quartet-type group appearing at Giants Stadium years ago - they travelled from end-zone to end-zone jamming with the crowd - don't know if they were paid or just brought their stuff to a game ... Andy "I've done a few halftimes in my life" Lisko
  3. Sky also had a triple crown in 71: Dream, World Open and DCA Andy "and I was there" Lisko
  4. Liz sez: CT Alumni is having a mini corps??!! this keeps looking like it will trump the NYC St. Patrick's Day parade more and more! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ... and the Park City Pride has a couple of ensembles entered ... ... it's gonna be a great event ... ... and don't forget: the BEST IN SHOW will be awarded a GOLD PLATED bugle courtesy of Kanstul ... a unique limited edition "no valve" bugle used by the Army bugler in DC ... there have been only four others produced to date ... YEOW!! ... I may enter myself!!!! ... HAHA ... Andy
  5. How many Mini Corps are attending? -------------------------------------------------------- Here's who signed up (no partucular order): Romeo’s (exhibition only) Amoskeag Sound Mass Brass Capital Brass Ct Alumni St Rita’s Brassmen Andy
  6. The location of the I&E Show was originally advertised as: University of Bridgeport Student Center 244 University Avenue Bridgeport, CT 06604 Is that still the location? The website says Park Ave? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll travel on Park Ave to the intersection of University Ave ... the Student Center is inset a little (via walkways) on the left ... directions will be forthcoming from the show's coordinator ... Andy
  7. i'm not sure what the game plan is for the 17th yet, but this certainly is an option. AND i know my way around the place. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well ... if you're there, make your way up to the podium and I'll have you announce a few entrants with me ... just make sure you bring a drink disguised in one of those inconspicuous red cups ... LOL ... Andy "I hate to MC alone" Lisko
  8. you'll do fabulous Andy. just don't ask Fran for fashion tips. you're not sending them down to Seaside Park? the rats will be a bit scrawny this time of year. seriously ~ hope you have a wonderful event! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks Liz ... being a Skyliner, I'm much more conservative than Fran ... :-) ... no tux this time but maybe I'll work in some Gong Show hats ala Chuch Berris ... HOOHAA!!! Guess I should have said "up the road" ... HAHA ... away from Seaside ... although, it was the place to be in the 60's with Conty's ... the Bug Lite ... Arnold's (yes there really was a Happy Days place in Bpt) ... and several other gin mills ... Will you be gracing us with your presence? Andy
  9. Andy....Is the Post Bash at the 3 Corners? Also, is the venue at the "Student Center" Auditorium or is it at the "Fishbowl" by Irunston Ave,( that's Iranistan if your not from Bridgeport). Hopefully the Doctors will let me have at least 1 cold one by then. If not, I buy you one and watch you drink it. Jim Ormiston...PCP --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim - yes the post-show party will be at the Three Corners bar/restaurant ... be sure to wear old clothes in case you fall down ... The show will be at the Student Center on University Avenue by Park Ave ... Andy "but honey, I only had two drinks ... both just happened to be pitchers" Lisko
  10. I'll be serving up as MC for this event and look forward to a robust set of performances by all involved ... brass and percussion. Several current and past DCA I&E winners will be doing their thing including Frank Dorritie, Ruben Ariola, Jack Murray, Joe Fontana, John "Shirley Temple" Neuhror and several others ... I just checked out the venue at the University of Bridgeport and can tell you first hand it is excellent ... the stage is a nice enough size so that ensembles and minis won't be constrained and individuals won't be lost ... the audience will be "up close and personal" to the competitors and there's plenty of room outside the main hall to socialize. There will be food and beverage (sorry, no alcohol) service available during the contest and a post-show party at a local bar/restaurant just down the road ... directions will be posted shortly and maps will be available at the show. So ... c'mon out and "see the stars" ... or at least listen to me fumble through pronouncing their names ... LOL ... See ya on the 17th ... Andy "I love an old style I&E show" Lisko

  18. The NY Skyliners will once again be hitting the field in their traditional red military cadet jackets. To help offset the cost of the new uniforms, several vintage bugles will be auctioned off over the next several weeks on eBay. Three have been auctioned off so far and two are up for bid right now. This is an easy way to own a piece of history and help support a worthy cause for one of Drum Corps favorite sons - the NY Skyliners. If you are a collector, or know a friend that is a collector, please logon to eBay and do a general search on "Skyliners". Once you wade through the DooWop records from the 50's singing group, you'll be able to pick out our items easily. :-) If you have a horn or other distinct item you would like to donate to the Uniform Fund, contact me directly at ajlisko@aol.com. Thanks in advance for your support. Andy Lisko
