  1. Erie has a long and coveted Drum Corps' history. Many thanks to the Cadets for adding to it.
  2. The Erie Thunderbirds and the entire Erie Drum Corps' community welcome, again, the Cadets and offer our support for their continued success.
  3. One our daughters graduated from the "Rock" in 1992. The cheerleader, I cringed, every time they threw her 6 feet in the air. Got her BS in psychology there then her Masters at Pitt. She loved both schools.
  4. Erie has a long and successful storied history of Drum Corps' which continues even today. Welcome Cadets.
  5. The school is still operation. Has been Collegiate Academy for quite some time with many 1st places in National Academic competitions. The real beauty of the "Vet" is the acoustics and the up close and personal to the crowd.
  6. Have yet to see a list of participating Corps' for this year. Any info out there?
  7. "Thunderbird"...What's the price ?...Fifty twice.
  8. So sorry for your loss, Jim. Prayers to you and your family.
  9. Minicorps' actually started in 1993. From then thru 1996...we(TBIRDS) always refered to Montage as ...Thunderbird Mountain.
  10. Chops had a screemer back in the day when 1st appeared at DCA. Remember him standing on a ladder.
  11. Ya Jim....last 3 DCA scores for the TBIRDS...64+...69+...74+.....Looks pretty good.
  12. Maybe your referring to the max number for class A. My bad for not thinking this thru.
  13. Think that's been reduced to 35, Tom. Maybe 65 for open class. Not sure though. Don't think the TBIRDS had 65 last year.
  14. Unless it was before 1992 you needed a ticket for the show to get into the Sports Bar. I know. We tried it.
  15. Curious. Where do the proceeds from beer sales go at this venue? I know they sell a lot. Sometimes they even sell out.
  16. Great job as usual, Gadget. Don't know how you can watch, critique, and type at the same time. Just like being there. Many thanks.
  17. Too long ? Really ? DCI Corps' perform 7 days a week. If you put it in perspective....the DCA season is abt a week and a half long.
  18. I've been doing MiniCorps with the Erie Thuderbirds since its inception in 1993. We were very fortunate, over the years, to come home with 6 Minicorps' titles. Star United has raised the bar. Is that a bad thing? Absolutly Not !! Like anything else I think this is something cyclical. It happens. Good points were made by STRUUTA and others...age of performers...burn-out ...cost. As most Minicorps performers tend to be older (or used to be) I don't think cost is a factor as most are pretty well set in their livilyhood. The competitive spirit is still alive and well in all of us and really our motivation to participate in this venue. I have no doubt that this is just a "Speed Bump" and confident it will return. Possibly better than before. (just sayin...)
  19. Isn't there also a cost for insurance?
