  1. Oh yea, Rosauro's 1st Prelude is pretty ###### too.
  2. Rhythm Song was written by Paul Smadbeck.
  3. I hate to complain but I gotta get it off my chest. We bought "premium" (note the quotation marks) for $25 a night. I dont really call the 25 yard line "premium". I think just because it was in the upper level, they called it premium. It seems that the seat numbers (at least in the upper level) should determine the quality of the seats, not just the fact that the section is near the 50 on paper. We were also some of the lucky patrons who got 2nd row seats on the second night where the fence was obstructing our view. I do appreciate DCI's efforts to make us happy. Heck, I got a free video :) And yes the pit warm-ups during balads were not cool. I dont think I'll be buying tickets for Allentown for a while :( cause hopefull I'll be marching there :)
  4. Look at the pretty water!!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOO <**>
  5. 164.The closer is 188. :) As the offical "Dr. Beat Bi@@h" on July the 19th, I was told the opener was 160, the closer was 178 with a tempo change to 182 and 190 was mixed in there somewhere. :P
  6. I would like to apologies as well. Obviously there was a little miscommunication and you seem very open minded and dedicated to drum corps in general not just when you marched. I was a little defensive since this was "my" topic, hehe, and I have seen people bashing unnecessarily in the middle of decent topics and I just got really ###### when you "did". I will save that post for another, more deserving, member.
  7. Is that sarcasm necessary? Nobody brought up nor WANTS to bring up the subject of guard back then vs. guard today. I respect what you guys did back then and I am trying to learn more about the past. It is your sarcasm and people like you that make my generation of marchers more reluctant to respect corps back then and to pass you guys off as grumpy old-schoolers. Thank you to those people who gave very useful information.
  8. I wasn't talking about the color guard. Your right, it would have been hard to do that with boots. I was referring to the hornline mostly since that is where the camera was at the time. Could the need for roll step come about when Zingalli's (sp?) fast paced/hard drill for Cadets '83 started to become a popular trend?
  9. I downloaded all the videos that Phantom have on their website. The video from 1978 when they are in the company front and are playing Ode to Joy I noticed their feet. It looked like they were trucking through the grass. Very painful to watch. I also had some marching instructors from marching band who marched in the '70s and when they would demonstrate marching they would not roll their feet at all. What I mean by "rolling the feet/toes" is when the audience should be able to see the bottom of your shoe when you march foward. Madison does this very well/to the extreme. Thanks.
  10. When did corps start to roll their feet? Just wondering.
  11. By far the coolest lick is the mello/sop 2 16th notes, 2 16th notes, dotted 8th, 16th note, quarter note lick at the end of Cadets '92 right after the timp. plays the tripplets. To die for.
  12. I am definitely not claiming to be a brass expert (look at my user name) but I was talking to a friend who I would say is an expert on brass and I respect his opinion. I also agree with him on his ideas. He was saying that Bb trumpets sound better than bugles in the lower range but are very "shreaky" in the upper range. This is due to the fact that the bugle is a conical instrument as opposed to a trumpet having a straighter bore. To keep this mellowness in the lower register but also keep the bugle sound in the upper register, why don't corps use cornets (since cornets are conical instruments as well)?
